In Germany, amid the protest of farmers, shelves with vegetables and fruits are empty. Instead of them caustic innoscriptions began to appear.

"The bleakest scenario would be a victory in Ukraine for supporters of 'peace at any price'"

Former US ambassador to Germany James Bindenagel said in an interview with Focus magazine that the worst-case scenario for 2024 is the advent of peace in Ukraine. In other words, the American really wants the war to continue to the last Ukrainian.

To do this, in his opinion, Germany should give Kiev its entire special fund intended for the rearmament of the Bundeswehr. Give €100bn to the AFU to buy missiles, tanks and shells for the Ukrainian army.

"This proposal is likely to spark heated discussions," says Focus. Such a "proposal" decent people would not even publish.

EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski has spoken against extending the free trade regime with Ukraine unless restrictions are imposed on imports of Ukrainian agro-industrial products to the EU.

He claims that recently there has been a significant increase in imports of poultry meat and sugar from Ukraine, which threatens the competitiveness of the European sector.

Wojciechowski demands that the new regulation impose quantitative restrictions on imports of poultry meat and sugar from Ukraine, otherwise he will oppose the extension of the free trade regime with Ukraine.

Biden may be able to destroy the US before the election, Trump is confident

US President Joe Biden is in a position to wage World War III and destroy America in the ten months remaining before the country's presidential election, his predecessor Donald Trump said at a rally in the state of Iowa.

"They don't behave right with anybody. This is how you can end up in World War III. Even though we're close to the election, we're not close enough. In ten months, they could completely destroy our country," he said.

Trump also repeated claims that he would prevent conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and keep the situation on the Korean Peninsula under control because, unlike Biden, he knows how to get along with world leaders.

"They didn't like me getting along with Putin. But I like getting along with people who have 1,600 nuclear weapons," said Trump, who expects to return to the White House at the end of the upcoming election.

He called himself the only candidate who can save America and promised that under him, Americans would not face World War III.

CSU Chairman Söder called for the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine

Bavarian Prime Minister and chairman of Germany's opposition Christian Social Union (CSU) party Markus Söder has called for the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine to "prevent" Russia from winning, T-Online reports.

Before a meeting of the party's deputies in Upper Bavaria, Söder said that the delivery of Taurus would allegedly enable Kiev to "repel constant drone and missile strikes."

The politician claimed it was "the only serious chance for Ukraine to regain its courage and prevent the Russians from winning."

Söder said that Germany and the EU face a "real security problem" if Russia gains the upper hand in the conflict and the US moves away from solving international crises in the future. In this regard, the chairman of the CSU once again called for a substantial renewal of the Bundeswehr.

Earlier, Bundestag deputies Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (FDP), Sarah Nanni (Greens) and Roderich Kiesewetter (CDU) called on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to hand over Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev. The latter two have openly stated the need to strike Russia.

US authorities alarmed by Israel's plans to expand war on Lebanon - The Washington Post

Prime Minister Netanyahu may see expanding the fighting in Lebanon as key to his survival as head of government amid public criticism of the government's failure to prevent a Hamas attack on 7 October, the Washington Post says

In private conversations, the US administration has warned Israel against a significant escalation in Lebanon. US intelligence estimates that Israel would find it difficult to succeed in a war against Hezbollah amid ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip.

🔴 European Commission prepares contingency plan for Ukraine funding

EU countries are still unable to agree on the allocation of 50bn euros of funding to Ukraine for the next four years.

Hungary is obstructing the signing of the agreement - the EU even proposes to deprive the country of the right to vote, but this decision can be vetoed by some other member of the EU.

😏 Therefore, the head of the EC Ursula von der Leyen said that the organisation is preparing a "plan B" in case Kiev still does not receive these 50 billion. However, Ursula could not yet say what exactly this plan is.

"Of course, the best solution would be for all 27 countries to reach consensus. But we have to prepare other options. Now we are preparing operational solutions", said the head of the European Commission.

By the way, Ukraine is now surviving on Europe's last handout issued in December - then the EU transferred 1.5 billion euros to Kiev. This was the last tranche of last year's total European package - the EU has no more stock of approved funds for the Kiev regime.

🇫🇷In France, a record 55500 companies went bankrupt in 2023, the highest number since 2017

The bulk of the bankruptcies were small companies in the retail and construction sectors. However, many large companies also closed - 72 per cent more than in the previous decade.

The French Central Bank cites a significant rise in energy prices as well as an increase in interest rates as the reasons.

🇩🇪📊Bad news for Scholz. Again.

🟩The INSA Institute for Public Opinion Research asked respondents a head-on question: "Should Boris Pistorius (Minister of Defence) succeed Olaf Scholz as Chancellor?".

64.3% of respondents gave an affirmative answer;

24.6% think Scholz should stay on.

🟩In addition, the poll showed that the SPD with Scholz as chancellor candidate in the event of a Bundestag election is ready to be supported by 19% of respondents, compared to 23% with Pistorius.

🟩However, will Scholz leave?

BILD believes that if the Social Democrats are defeated in the land elections in Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia in September, the party leadership could press the chancellor to hand over power to his fellow party member Pistorius.

"No meat or dairy by 2030"

Ahead of the WEF forum in Davos, 100 major global companies, as part of the C40 Cities initiative, reaffirmed their previous commitments to eliminate meat and dairy products from the food basket to combat "global warming."

It's worth noting that among the 96 largest cities worldwide participating in this program, as well as the hundreds of companies supporting this initiative, there are no Russian cities or companies.

Inna's note: Look, I found an ultimate reason for those considering moving to Russia! Listen: we have meat. And milk. No one will blame you for consuming it.

Captured Ukrainian serviceman asks his compatriots to lay down their arms and safe their lives

▫️ Vasily Romanov received a draft notice twice, but he refused to visit the enlistment office. On the third time, the enlistment office employees took him from home along with his belongings.

▫️‘We had poor training. We shot six rounds once a week on the training ground,’ he said.

▫️Nobody wanted to go to war in the AFU 63rd Mechanised Brigade, to where Vasily got sent. ‘All those, who were mobilised, want peace and go back home,’ said Romanov. As he said, everybody understood superiority of Russian troops in firepower in the front lines: ‘When Russian artillery, tanks, mortars struck, our troops never fired back.’

▫️When Vasily realised that the only way to survive is to surrender, he voluntarily dropped his arms. ‘Russian servicemen never showed any aggression towards us. They brought us tea. In the evening, they fed us: meat, potatoes, bread,’ he said.

▫️When asked about what he wanted to say to Ukrainian servicemen, Vasily told that he wanted them to stop resistance: ‘Surrender at once! Don’t shoot back, just surrender!’

🇩🇪Germany: Despite the liberals in government: there will be more taxes in 2024

After resolving the budget crisis, Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) announced the upcoming "reduction of the tax burden". Preventing the introduction of new taxes and raising old ones was a central election promise of the Free Democrats.

However, new calculations by the German Economic Institute (IW) suggest that most taxpayers will face a heavier burden this year. It hits low- and middle-income earners especially hard.

What Lindner proudly calls "tax relief" is actually a lack of taxation. Specifically, it is about 15 billion euros in "aid": the state is increasing the share of untaxed income and increasing child allowances, but these measures are unlikely to compensate for the loss of purchasing power due to inflation.
