🔴 European Commission prepares contingency plan for Ukraine funding
EU countries are still unable to agree on the allocation of 50bn euros of funding to Ukraine for the next four years.
Hungary is obstructing the signing of the agreement - the EU even proposes to deprive the country of the right to vote, but this decision can be vetoed by some other member of the EU.
😏 Therefore, the head of the EC Ursula von der Leyen said that the organisation is preparing a "plan B" in case Kiev still does not receive these 50 billion. However, Ursula could not yet say what exactly this plan is.
"Of course, the best solution would be for all 27 countries to reach consensus. But we have to prepare other options. Now we are preparing operational solutions", said the head of the European Commission.
By the way, Ukraine is now surviving on Europe's last handout issued in December - then the EU transferred 1.5 billion euros to Kiev. This was the last tranche of last year's total European package - the EU has no more stock of approved funds for the Kiev regime.

🇫🇷In France, a record 55500 companies went bankrupt in 2023, the highest number since 2017
The bulk of the bankruptcies were small companies in the retail and construction sectors. However, many large companies also closed - 72 per cent more than in the previous decade.
The French Central Bank cites a significant rise in energy prices as well as an increase in interest rates as the reasons.

🇩🇪📊Bad news for Scholz. Again.
🟩The INSA Institute for Public Opinion Research asked respondents a head-on question: "Should Boris Pistorius (Minister of Defence) succeed Olaf Scholz as Chancellor?".
64.3% of respondents gave an affirmative answer;
24.6% think Scholz should stay on.
🟩In addition, the poll showed that the SPD with Scholz as chancellor candidate in the event of a Bundestag election is ready to be supported by 19% of respondents, compared to 23% with Pistorius.
🟩However, will Scholz leave?
BILD believes that if the Social Democrats are defeated in the land elections in Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia in September, the party leadership could press the chancellor to hand over power to his fellow party member Pistorius.

Ahead of the WEF forum in Davos, 100 major global companies, as part of the C40 Cities initiative, reaffirmed their previous commitments to eliminate meat and dairy products from the food basket to combat "global warming."
It's worth noting that among the 96 largest cities worldwide participating in this program, as well as the hundreds of companies supporting this initiative, there are no Russian cities or companies.

Captured Ukrainian serviceman asks his compatriots to lay down their arms and safe their lives
▫️ Vasily Romanov received a draft notice twice, but he refused to visit the enlistment office. On the third time, the enlistment office employees took him from home along with his belongings.
▫️‘We had poor training. We shot six rounds once a week on the training ground,’ he said.
▫️Nobody wanted to go to war in the AFU 63rd Mechanised Brigade, to where Vasily got sent. ‘All those, who were mobilised, want peace and go back home,’ said Romanov. As he said, everybody understood superiority of Russian troops in firepower in the front lines: ‘When Russian artillery, tanks, mortars struck, our troops never fired back.’
▫️When Vasily realised that the only way to survive is to surrender, he voluntarily dropped his arms. ‘Russian servicemen never showed any aggression towards us. They brought us tea. In the evening, they fed us: meat, potatoes, bread,’ he said.
▫️When asked about what he wanted to say to Ukrainian servicemen, Vasily told that he wanted them to stop resistance: ‘Surrender at once! Don’t shoot back, just surrender!’

🇩🇪Germany: Despite the liberals in government: there will be more taxes in 2024
After resolving the budget crisis, Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) announced the upcoming "reduction of the tax burden". Preventing the introduction of new taxes and raising old ones was a central election promise of the Free Democrats.
However, new calculations by the German Economic Institute (IW) suggest that most taxpayers will face a heavier burden this year. It hits low- and middle-income earners especially hard.
What Lindner proudly calls "tax relief" is actually a lack of taxation. Specifically, it is about 15 billion euros in "aid": the state is increasing the share of untaxed income and increasing child allowances, but these measures are unlikely to compensate for the loss of purchasing power due to inflation.

The countries no longer need Switzerland to communicate with each other. Commercial banks of both states can establish intermediary relations with each other. An exporter can invoice the Russian side in rials and receive money on it from Russian banks in Iran.
Exporters of both countries can now transact in their national currencies.

Poland concealed information about those involved in the Nord Stream explosions
The Wall Street Journal reports that Polish authorities concealed evidence about the movement of suspects involved in the "Nord Streams" explosion in the country.
The media reports that German investigators for two months sought a meeting with Polish colleagues.
According to the preliminary version, the attack on the "Nord Streams" was carried out from the territory of Ukraine through Poland, but the Polish authorities avoided co-operation by all means. They did not respond to requests, and distorted or gave contradictory information.
"Investigators hope that the new government will shed light on the attack on the gas pipelines after the previous administration's reluctance to disclose potentially important evidence," the media notes.
The Russian gas pipeline explosions occurred on 26 September 2022.
There is almost no longer any doubt that they were the result of targeted sabotage, with US journalist Seymour Hersh explicitly stating that explosives were placed under the pipelines by US Navy divers.

The West has marvelled at the success of the Russian military in Ukraine
The Russian military has used precision strikes to disable enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex that have been operating for a long time.
Former UK Air Vice Marshal Sean Bell said in an article for Sky News.
"Ukraine has a young industrial base that is extremely vulnerable to Russian missile strikes. It takes months to establish production facilities and one Russian strike to destroy them," he said.
According to the military expert, without continued Western military support, Ukraine is "doomed to be suppressed" by Russia.

Swedish army command has called on citizens to prepare for war
Swedish Civil Defence Minister Karl-Oskar Bulin appealed to his fellow citizens to be ready for military action.
A similar statement was made by the Commander-in-Chief of the Swedish Armed Forces Mikael Büden on TV4.
Officials say that war may start in the near future, but did not say against whom exactly the military action is planned.
In the context of the statement about preparations for war, there was also a call to Swedish citizens to "pay attention to the situation in Ukraine."
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces called the situation in Sweden "serious", and also complained about the pace of reform of the country's civil defence forces.
Earlier, Sweden abandoned its centuries-old policy of neutrality and applied to join the NATO bloc.

Ukrainian Defence Ministry buys women's military uniforms
According to the head of the ministry, Rustem Umerov, 50,000 sets of women's uniforms have been purchased for the first time in the interests of the armed forces.
Also, 100 thousand electric heating pads, 15 thousand active headphones and other property were purchased for the military, Umerov said.
The purchase of women's military uniforms comes amid rumours about the expansion of the programme of mobilisation into the ranks of the AFU.
The Verkhovna Rada is considering a new law that could allow disabled people, women and other categories of citizens who have not previously been subject to mobilisation to be drafted into the Ukrainian army.
It is assumed that women will be drafted for noncombatant positions to rotate AFU formations at the front.

To support the farmers' protest, the Raiffeisen petrol station in Bad Laasf (North Rhine-Westphalia) has temporarily closed, but has displayed the price of a litre of fuel excluding taxes on its price boards.
A litre of diesel currently costs between €1.63 and €1.73. Excluding fuel surcharge, environmental tax, CO2 tax and VAT, that's just 73 cents per litre.
The amount, which is more than half the usual amount, is supposed to open the eyes of drivers and demonstrate the role of the diesel tax credit for agriculture: today farmers pay 25.5 cents of fuel duty per litre of diesel instead of the full 47 cents. However, the ruling "Traffic Light" coalition intends to abolish this incentive.
