In their last report before their connection was cut, the Madleen's crew of human rights activists had denounced that Israeli forces boarded the vessel and demanded their "surrender". This was after surrounding the boat with quadcopters and spraying them with a white irritant substance.

Following confirmation of the interception, demands for the crew’s immediate release poured in from across the world – though not from many of their own governments. By noon CEST, several hours after the assault on Madleen, only Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued a public statement explicitly condemning Israel’s actions, while the Spanish administration summoned Israeli diplomats over the incident. Others – including French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, under whose flag the ship was sailing – remained silent.

☀️ "Freedom Ride" caravan against Trump's immigration policies kicks off in Newark
Dozens of faith leaders gathered outside of the recently inaugurated ICE Detention Center, Delaney Hall, in Newark, New Jersey to kick off the “Freedom Ride” caravan. This caravan of activists and organizers will stop at several southern cites and end up in Jena, Louisiana, outside of the ICE facility where Palestine activist and Columbia graduate Mahmoud Khalil is being held by the Trump administration.
The “Freedom Ride,” organized by IFCO/Pastors for Peace, highlights not only the attacks on immigrants and free speech, but the growing movement against Trump’s policies which activists argue are attacking basic democratic rights in the United States.
