Why is my WebGL build loading so slow?

First of all, I'm very much NOT a back-end programmer. I know enough programming to pass as a technical designer, so please explain things like I'm stupid, because I probably am :)

I'm running Unity 2022.3.29f1 and exporting as a WebGL build. The game is essentially a read-along comic book that I'm making for a small company, so it includes a lot of large images.

When trying to load the game on the company site, it takes around 20s to load for my computer, loading times differ for each person. I need to make it load faster, and I've already tried optimizing files.

I don't think it's an internet speed issue, since most people who had this issue have great connection.
The odd thing is that when I load the game using Itch.io instead of the company servers, it loads about 3x as fast. Is it strictly a server issue then?

Is it possible to dynamically load assets, maybe using Addressables and a server?

Thanks!

Can Small Countries Make Big Video Games? Interesting discussion.

Hey everyone!

Are there any other game developers here, especially from smaller countries, who are working on their own projects? I’m a solo dev from Bulgaria (country with a population of 6 million people). I'm currently wrapping up a 2D zombie game, and I’ve always been curious if others have similar experiences. Whether it’s a PC game, a mobile app, or something else entirely – it’s always exciting to see indie projects from different parts of the world.

For me, the inspiration to create games came from stuff like the "bulgarian subnoscripts modification" for GTA San Andreas - this was a big thing here back in the day... 😂 When I was a a kid, I thought it was amazing to see anything Bulgarian in video games, and I still admire anyone who creates a game tied to their roots or culture.

To fellow developers out there – have you faced challenges like finding testers, optimizing for different platforms, or just getting people to notice your game? How did you handle those?

By the way, the game I’m finishing up is called "Zombie Pandemia 2D." It’s already available for Android on Google Play and as a demo for PC on Steam. It has been translated to english, spanish, german, russian, and turkish.

We are developing a game inspired by the tech and concept of the Aliens Franchise. I would love to know what you think of it, or ideas that could improve it.

Hinge Joint Question: I have a noscript that updates the cages position and rotation. However I want it to freely move based on the players velocity after it snaps to a rotation. I also want it to allow me to let go of it and keep momentum, but not affect player movement or physics. Anything helps!
