Can software under GPLv3 be sold?
I've been discusing this for an hour with an IT friend, he says it's not allowed to sell software under GPLv3 without any modification. I said him many times it's allowed and showed him what gnu says about.
What can you say about this guys. Many thanks :)

Hardcore Windows user here, Installed Debian 10 on my actual computer for the first time and currently trying it out.
Going to keep this short
I have messed around with Linux distros on VM, but let's forget about that. Using Linux via Virtual Machine sucks if you don't have a fast computer that handles Virtualization. Personally I recommend Dual-booting instead.
I went with Debian 10 simply because it was the only one that can fit on a 1GB Flash drive while most distros are bigger than 2GB.
So far, my experience has been quite good (despite been using it for 2 days) I have encountered some bugs (which are easily forgiven) and some problems (in which i'm still in progress of fixing at the moment, quite educational).
I'm not going to state these problems or bugs (as I don't want to ruin the surprise) I'll be doing a detailed post regarding my experience with Desktop Linux as a Hardcore Windows user on somewhere between December or January. stay tuned for that.

I created a simple guide for the Polish community and I am looking for a list of companies with Linux-compatible hardware.
Hi,
Recently I created on github - [https://github.com/qarmin/GNU-Linux-Podstawy](https://github.com/qarmin/GNU-Linux-Podstawy) \- guide for completely beginners with basics information's about GNU/Linux and simple installation and configuration KDE Neon.
In 9 point I added info about companies which products will great support Linux.
For now I have:
\- Graphics cards - AMD, Intel
\- Routers(Openwrt) - TP-Link, ASUS, D-Link, Lnksys, Netgear
\- Network cards - Realtek, TP-Link, Mediatek, Intel, Qualcomm
\- Printers - HP, Broter

I feel like many FOSS projects aren't making use of any User Interface (UI) Guidelines so I thought I should share some resources in case someone needs them
1. [User Interface Design Guidelines: 10 Rules of Thumb](https://www.interaction-design.org/literature/article/user-interface-design-guidelines-10-rules-of-thumb)
2. [The 4 Golden Rules of UI Design (by Adobe)](https://theblog.adobe.com/4-golden-rules-ui-design/)
3. [Human Interface Guidelines (by Apple)](https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/macos/overview/visual-index/)
4. *Maybe there exists better resource? IDK, this is the best I could find tho.*
Also, shout-out to projects that keep their websites minimal and easy to navigate like [Alpine Linux](https://www.alpinelinux.org/about/)'s, [Slax](https://www.slax.org/)'s, etc.

Best Automated Post-Install Setup Script/Project
Hi everyone,
I am tired to spend so much time setting up a new machine after a fresh install an am exploring some options to automate most of my setup (package installs, sane settings configuration, installation of my dotfiles, and so on...).
Does anyone have recommendations about this? I am pretty sure there already exists some kind of project which helps to perform this task. I found this one already: [https://github.com/snwh/ubuntu-post-install](https://github.com/snwh/ubuntu-post-install). I am also aware of tools like Chef, or Ansible which could be used to this purpose.
What is your preferred way to setup a machine how you like it after a fresh install? Ideally, I think a bash noscript with no dependencies needed would be the best. I am using Ubuntu.
Thanks!

AppImage UX Proposal
I'm glad to introduce the AppImage UX proposal I've been working on. It features **transparent system integration** (no install required), **first run assistance,** the **applications directory** and **applications file metadata.**
You can see it live in this video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMx23bSPDeQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMx23bSPDeQ)

Adding self signed certificate to trusted certificates
I'm trying to add a self signed cert to the trusted certificates so I can add my nextcloud drive onto nautilus. I've tried a couple things such as copying it to /usr/share/ca-certificates and then updating ca-certificates, but that did not work. And there is not many other methods that I've found searching the web.
Setup: Fedora 30, gnome desktop

The Art World needs to embrace Linux!
I'm a professional artist and, essentially, if your aren't using Mac/Windows/Adobe it's very difficult, if not impossible, to get along in this industry. I honestly see Linux/FOSS as counter cultural/anti-corporate which is in line with the ethos of many artists I know but why can't this industry break out of its corporate shell?

I'm so happy I'm making the switch over to Linux!
This has been a step I have been trying to take for so long. With months of research and confidence, I have made the decision! Imagine running an OS that is not spying on you and filled with bloatware! That's the best feeling! I love how Linux is such a customizable OS from that start. By selecting only packages you want or removing them later on, with no issues whatsoever. This can't be done in Windows or Mac without breaking another package or feature. When I first heard about Linux, I thought I was limited on software, but when I found out about the alternatives and how many of them were open source AND free, just made me flip my switch. Anyways that all being said, I think more people need to know about Linux and open source. It should be in schools, offices, etc. Think of how much money they can save by switching over. Anyways I just felt like sharing!
