Does the Nvidia Proprietary Driver have any telemetry?

I wanted to use the open source driver but the tearing in mpv is unbearable. I tried all the fixes that I found over the internet but nothing worked. Only the proprietary driver seems to solve it completely. However, I know for once that there is a Telemetry Service in Nvidai Driver for windows, is the same present here too?

Linux status on mobile Ryzen (3*00u)

Hello guys, i was ready to buy a Thinkpad based on Ryzen 3\*00u (they are Zen+, Raven Ridge based) but i heard a lot of horror story about how they work with linux, starting from battery life to even booting very basic and common distro w/out some tweaking, freeze, crash, standby problems etc.

Is is still an issue today? Most distro come with kernel v5 that should bring some decent implementation of them but i'm not an expert linux user, i'd like some more expert opinion before spending 1000€.

Opinion on System 76 Laptops

Does anyone have any experience with System 76 Laptops? I am a CS student and I have been looking at getting a good Linux Laptop. I like what System 76 has to offer. However, I have been trying to see if they have a good reputation.

Thanks so much for your help.

Could webassembly be a suitable replacement for eBPF?

The reason being that almost all modern compilers are targeting or is planning to target webassembly. It's also one of the first cross platform bytecode format that is open and has such a massive backing from organisations and companies. I personally think it would fit nicely as a way to extend the Kernel in a safe way. What do you think?

Course suggestions

Hello,

I have a lateral opportunity at work that might open up, but it will likely depend on my ability to ramp up from beginner to competent (or better) in a few areas: Linux security + accessing, transferring and storing data safely. I am able to self-teach, but I'm still not feeling confident in these areas and it may just take some formal training. I've currently been testing EC2 Linux on AWS, so I've got a foundation, as well as some basic python.

Is there a course or series that comes to mind that would cover linux security essentials, and accessing data on the web (API's, basic database, etc)? Any other advice?

Thank you!
