Opinion on System 76 Laptops

Does anyone have any experience with System 76 Laptops? I am a CS student and I have been looking at getting a good Linux Laptop. I like what System 76 has to offer. However, I have been trying to see if they have a good reputation.

Thanks so much for your help.

Could webassembly be a suitable replacement for eBPF?

The reason being that almost all modern compilers are targeting or is planning to target webassembly. It's also one of the first cross platform bytecode format that is open and has such a massive backing from organisations and companies. I personally think it would fit nicely as a way to extend the Kernel in a safe way. What do you think?

Course suggestions

Hello,

I have a lateral opportunity at work that might open up, but it will likely depend on my ability to ramp up from beginner to competent (or better) in a few areas: Linux security + accessing, transferring and storing data safely. I am able to self-teach, but I'm still not feeling confident in these areas and it may just take some formal training. I've currently been testing EC2 Linux on AWS, so I've got a foundation, as well as some basic python.

Is there a course or series that comes to mind that would cover linux security essentials, and accessing data on the web (API's, basic database, etc)? Any other advice?

Thank you!

One of the many Reasons why I like Linux

Once upon a time I wanted to install a silly font on my Linux machine. I did not know how to install a font, I just created a directory in my home directory, named `.fonts`. Then I searched my compute for `fonts` and I opened a KDE app to install them. I clicked on `add font` and selected the font. *`Error`*! The font could not be installed. I tried again, it still didn't work. I figured, I might try to extract the `zip` file again. Another attempt at installing the font failed.

At that point I gave up — That was it, I can't install that font, no problem.
I opened a text Editor, text-editored around and \*pop\* there it was — the font was there!

How did it work, I asked myself?? Turns out: installing a font is achieved by *moving the font files to the `.fonts` folder!*
_It is as simple as that!_
_Without any knowledge on how to install a font, I installed a font just by moving it to the folder, which I wanted my fonts to be stored in!_

Just wanted to share this story, as I fond it somewhat wholesome
