Fans are louder on linux than windows?
I feel like this isn't going get much attention, but here goes nothing.
I recently moved to Linux Mint from Windows 10. And upon using linux for a while I have noticed that my fans started producing louder noise on idle than Windows 10's idle. It would usually get this noisy when I am playing games. So I tried finding solution by googling, but all I could get was:
"[There is fancontrol.."](https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2209877)
"[Your motherboard already has (it should) sensors to detect temperatures and then and only then, tell the fan to operate at specific speed (you can set it by motherboard settings).](https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/361804/how-can-i-fix-a-loud-fan-on-linux) That is said and true, if the fan already has a controlling pin installed at the motherboard, otherwise the fan would just run at 100%."
I don't remember, but somewhere I read that it is bad to use linux mint with AMD build??
So what I even do now? Am I stuck with loud fans?

PS: lm-sensor detects only 1 fan, so is psensor. Even after running `sensors-detect.` Not to sound stupid, but I thought my fans are always on high due to my fans not being detected.

Loud fans despite cool system under Linux (but not Windows)

SSH tricks -- SOCKs proxy, jump box/bastion, ssh agent
Hi all,
I have published few SSH related articles with (I would say) less know tricks:
* Dynamic port forwarding with SSH (SOCKS): [http://bruxy.regnet.cz/web/linux/EN/socks-via-ssh/](http://bruxy.regnet.cz/web/linux/EN/socks-via-ssh/)
* SSH reverse tunnel and SSH via bastion: [http://bruxy.regnet.cz/web/linux/EN/ssh-bastion/](http://bruxy.regnet.cz/web/linux/EN/ssh-bastion/)
* Using and abusing of SSH agent: [http://bruxy.regnet.cz/web/linux/EN/ssh-bastion/](http://bruxy.regnet.cz/web/linux/EN/ssh-bastion/)
Especially for SOCKs proxies, I have written a noscript helping me change my public IP any time :)

BruXy: Dynamic port forwarding with SSH
One of the super important function of SSH is a port forwarding. You can use SOCKS proxy as a simple replacement of VPN.

I'm visually impaired, I can still see.
I would like to try Linux but how is screen reader? Does it work like the NVDA on windows?
I usually use NVDA screen reader as support reading if the text is long and bigger font + dark mode on my windows.
Is there any visually impaired people using linux?

Libinput Trackball Scroll *Without* Holding Down a Button
So, for years I've had a Logitech Trackman Marble mouse. It's been great but one thing that has annoyed me and my finger joints is the need to hold down target libinput ScrollButton in order to scroll with the trackball.
I recently picked up an Elecom Deft trackball mouse and am taking it for a test spin. With xinput I set applicable scrolling and draglock properties and everything works as expected, but there's still this annoying hold-down-a-button to scroll restriction. The Elecom has 8 physical buttons, I'd be more than happy to "chord" a couple of spare buttons via master + modifier to get desired auto scrolling behavior.
Is this a limitation of libinput, or is there a way to scroll via the trackball without holding down a button like one can do on a trackpad via 2-finger scrolling?

Linux is not GNU/Linux
Why are some people getting upset when I say that I run Linux and insist I call it GNU/Linux just because some of the tools I use is made by the GNU project.
With that logic I should call it KDE/Linux since a lot of tools I use is created by the KDE project
