What Terminal Emulator do you use and why?
Seeing all of the different terminal emulators out there, I am paralyzed by choice.
What are the benefits to all of these emulators, and what makes you use the one you are using?
Is it just because it came with the distro you daily? Is that how most people pick their terminal emulator? Or is there actual things you guys look for?

Hot to create firewall in ubutnu 18.04?
Hello as the noscript suggests,
I have been unsuccessful in creating a firewall. The firewall should be capable enough to block to vpn access as well.
I did changed dns using netplan in ubuntu (works)
Created rules using UFW (Don't know if it works)
I am not able to understand how does VPN bypass the firewall created by DNS to block porn, torrent as such.
Any link to learn is highly appreciated.
Thanks

Lenovo L340 gaming
So just an announcement since I had trouble finding compatibility info for a Lenovo L340 gaming edition; Ubuntu based distros seem to work good on this hardware. I bought a new one and was able to dual boot just fine. This laptop works great with Zorrin OS so if anyone else is looking at it for use with Linux, go for it.

[Audio Effects] JamesDSP for Linux
Hello, I'm u/TheBone_ and I wanted to present you a DSP (audio effect processor) for Linux!
If you're a rooted android user, you might have heard of JamesDSP. It is a digital sound processor used to enhance your music with several effects on Android. It allows you to add reverberation, bass boost, other filters using a parametric or fixed band equalizer and much more stuff to your sound output.
I ported it to Linux as a plugin for gstreamer1.0 quite some time ago and thought about publishing it on Reddit now.
**JamesDSP for Linux**
Features:
* Bass boost
* Analog modeling (12AX7)
* Stereo widener (mid/side)
* BS2B
* Advanced reverberation engine (Progenitor2)
* Cubic spline interpolated 15-bands equalizer
* Compressor
* Convolver
* Parametric Equalizer (packaged as ViPER DDC)
Installation instructions:

Source of the gstreamer plugin:

(The original app on Android was written by [james34602](https://github.com/james34602)
Feel free to contact me on Telegram [ThePBone](https://news.1rj.ru/str/ThePBone) if you encounter any issues or have questions.

Which distributions of Linux are backed by a corporation?

So far I know Ubuntu is, what other Linux distributions have the monetary backing of a corporation?

Can't seem to get rid of ^M no matter what I do.
I'm feeding a .csv file through a noscript and I'm trying to replace "\^M" with "\n" because I can't get grep to work with it, nor can I get awk to successfully pull out the correct columns. For example, when greping something from what is supposed to be one line, it will instead pull out the entire thing apparently thinking its all one line.
I've tried replacing it with sed and awk, but when I feed it into a less the "\^M" is still there.
any ideas? I also don't have access to dos2linux.

[Idea] Desktop Session Denoscription Language
My idea is a syntax that could be used to describe running applications, configurations, launcher / menu and more in a way that allows for easy transfer between environments. For example, if a config file says that a text editor is open, the system would interpret it as Kate on KDE, and Gedit on Gnome. What do people think, is this something you would use?

I think I messed up
I allocated space on my HDD (my Windows is on my SDD) and I installed Ubuntu. I was waiting for it to let me choose where to install Ubuntu and I must have missed it because it installed on the SDD with no allocated space. Windows boots fine but Ubuntu just shuts off my computer when it tries to load. I can get a weird version of it to boot if I run it in recovery mode but it’s all zoomed in and weird. So my question is 1. Should I try to delete Ubuntu and reinstall? (I cant find where the space is on disk management) and if so how do I do that to reinstall on the HDD. 2. If I can’t do that then is there something I can do so Ubuntu will boot properly? Thank you for your help

Installing Linux on Nintendo Switch
I know this has been done before however I wanted to give it a shot and try using it to do some stuff I would on my main pc. Firstly if you use only open source software like I do it is quite easy to use. And it felt suprisingly fast. Most of the time I had it docked however I did mess with it undocked both were actually somewhat decent experiences. When it came to gaming I did not have trouble with emulators or open source games. Overall I enjoyed the project and think that depending on someones workflow you actually might be able to replace a low end laptop with it.
