Changed ownership of every file on my PC to my user account. How fucked am I?
Basically, being a noob to linux and complete idiot, I used chown on / to my user account while in root. The command went all the way through before I realized that was not a good idea. I was running dual boot with Windows. Is there any way to fix this or should I wipe my whole PC and do a fresh install of Windows and Linux. I also have no backup whatsoever. FML

Windows won't boot after canceling ubuntu install
I have windows showing blue screen every time I boot it and it's telling me critical process died
Before this, I booted into Zorin os (ubuntu) on my usb, went in installation to the point where it formats a part of disk for itself, but when it asked me if I want the changes to be final I canceled and went back out, went back into windows. Everything was fine but after rebooting the blue screen started showing. I didn't change anything in windows during that time.
I have tried restoring backuped registry through command line, viewed my drives partitions (all healthy both on command line and Zorin disk viewer), everything seems fine when viewing my windows folders but opening the Windows folder shows me that this location could not be displayed.
Any ideas what I should do?
Edit: Safe modes don't work either.

Rolling release distro without systemd?
Good morning /r/linux
I just saw the news about systemd now including homed as well, and while I like to use systemd for work when I have to, it reminded me that I would like to stay modular in my private life.
Can anyone recommend a rolling release that ships without systemd out of the box?

dbus is still actual or is there upcoming or existing replacements?
here, I forced to write some nonsense text, because of the 'very smart bot' of this forum deletes "too short messages".. truly nonsense text just to ask some simple question.. but finally, maybe I'll just go ask at GNOME community, and maybe there are some smarter rules, compered to this ones.

Intel 10th gen CPU support
Hi,
I recently bought a Thinkpad e14 and installed Linux Mint 19.3 on it. Now, afair kernel 5.0.x was installed by default and it didn't detect wifi. Also on hardware manager nothing was listed, so I decided to update to kernel 5.5 (not officially supported by the os) and everything worked well (except the amd gpu and hardware manager still doesn't show anything). But then I need librealsense for development and they only support kernels 4.15 and recently 5.0 and 5.3. However for 5.x the lib does not work properly yet and we are doomed to use kernel 4.15.
Does someone have an idea what I could do? Install kernel 4.15 and get driver support somehow? I don't know further right now.
Thanks in advance.

Hosting Suggestions
Hi, everyone!
I've rented a VPS and would like to know what my options are regarding hosting stuff. I've learned how to run an IRC server along with Azuracast and some bots.
I'd like to know what else I can host on my rented machine so that I can learn how work better with Linux and have fun while doing it.

dd and bit rot
I was thinking about dd, bit rot and mechanical HDD's.
If I run from a live environment
# dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sda
Will it rewrite the HDD with exactly the same data?
If so, will it prevent bit rot?

Linux is a viable alternative to extend the life of older machines. We'll look at some of the issues involved if you switch to Linux.
Debian KDE to look like mac OS. I am sure you can't get any closer than that.
