Linux future and trends from ordinar users point of view
Hi, Linux community!
I've switched to Linux from Windows for a week and mostly impressed by these things:
1. Hardware compatibility with my laptop. I didn't have any problems with drivers so far.
2. Almost all apps from Windows I use have Linux versions. I do not need to change my workflow.
3. Linux Mint UI is very similar to what I used to have on Windows. So it is not a problem to find Firewall settings, or monitor processes, for example.
4. All network interfaces work efficiently and fast. I tried SMB, NFS, FTP without any issues.
It looks so appealing, so I got this feeling that Linux will take away 10-20% of Windows auditory soon. And because I believe it is the wrong impression of a new user, who doesn't have any ruined expectations from Linux, I want to know more mature users' opinions.
If you have been using Linux for several years, can you share with me your thoughts about Linux's future as a desktop OS for ordinary users? Do you like the development path, or do you have some questions?

Created a daily crossword downloader from my favorite site, thought you might appreciate it!
I wrote this today, and I can't wait to build up a huge backlog of crosswords. I love [this site](https://www.onlinecrosswords.net/printable-daily-crosswords.php), but I forget to check it and download them every day. I wrote this noscript so it will do it for me! If you have any questions feel free to ask.
It downloads the daily 7 straight to created directories for the purpose, renames them shorter with the date, then packs them all into one PDF for easy printing!
I made this run automatically with Cron, but you don't have to.
@reboot sleep 15 && ./crosswords_downloader.sh
Here is the code... I know I can shorten this with a for loop, but I am new to Bash noscripting so I haven't messed with it yet.
#!/bin/bash
mkdir ~/crosswords
mkdir ~/crosswords/$(date +%m)-$(date +%d)
wget -P ~/crosswords/$(date +%m)-$(date +%d) https://www.onlinecrosswords.net/printable-daily-crosswords-{1,2,3,4,5,6,7}.pdf
cd ~/crosswords/$(date +%m)-$(date +%d)

mv printable-daily-crosswords-7.pdf puzz#7_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
pdfunite puzz#* puzz_pack-$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
Note: It will begin overwriting folders after a year has passed, so don't wait too long.

User Research for an Open Source App
Hi everybody! I am the main developer of Super Productivity an open source app for linux. Recently Stian a UX/UI Designer reached out to offer his help, which is great. He is very meticulous about the whole project and wants to underpin his suggestions with research data which I really like. In order to make it work he would need several people to volunteer for an interview. All necessary information can be found here: https://github.com/johannesjo/super-productivity/discussions/1011
Help would be very much appreciated!

Latest Linux 5.11 on an 100 MHz "486" – AMD 5x85 "486" w/ 32MB RAM!
With some optimizations, improvements and fixes, I got latest t2/linux w/ kernel 5.11 running in a 486-class AMD 5x86 and later Cyrix Instead 5x86 (w/o cupid!). It is swapping a bit to death, guess I need to find more and larger memory DIMMs ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ Mostly to test pata_legacy; and obviously optimizations ;-)
