Created a daily crossword downloader from my favorite site, thought you might appreciate it!

I wrote this today, and I can't wait to build up a huge backlog of crosswords. I love [this site](https://www.onlinecrosswords.net/printable-daily-crosswords.php), but I forget to check it and download them every day. I wrote this noscript so it will do it for me! If you have any questions feel free to ask.

It downloads the daily 7 straight to created directories for the purpose, renames them shorter with the date, then packs them all into one PDF for easy printing!

I made this run automatically with Cron, but you don't have to.

@reboot sleep 15 && ./crosswords_downloader.sh

Here is the code... I know I can shorten this with a for loop, but I am new to Bash noscripting so I haven't messed with it yet.

#!/bin/bash

mkdir ~/crosswords
mkdir ~/crosswords/$(date +%m)-$(date +%d)

wget -P ~/crosswords/$(date +%m)-$(date +%d) https://www.onlinecrosswords.net/printable-daily-crosswords-{1,2,3,4,5,6,7}.pdf

cd ~/crosswords/$(date +%m)-$(date +%d)

mv printable-daily-crosswords-1.pdf puzz#1_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
mv printable-daily-crosswords-2.pdf puzz#2_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
mv printable-daily-crosswords-3.pdf puzz#3_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
mv printable-daily-crosswords-4.pdf puzz#4_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
mv printable-daily-crosswords-5.pdf puzz#5_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
mv printable-daily-crosswords-6.pdf puzz#6_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
mv printable-daily-crosswords-7.pdf puzz#7_$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf
pdfunite puzz#* puzz_pack-$(date +%m)-$(date +%d).pdf

Note: It will begin overwriting folders after a year has passed, so don't wait too long.

User Research for an Open Source App

Hi everybody! I am the main developer of Super Productivity an open source app for linux. Recently Stian a UX/UI Designer reached out to offer his help, which is great. He is very meticulous about the whole project and wants to underpin his suggestions with research data which I really like. In order to make it work he would need several people to volunteer for an interview. All necessary information can be found here: https://github.com/johannesjo/super-productivity/discussions/1011

Help would be very much appreciated!

Install bb via apt install, then run it and hit 8, you won't regret it

Install bb though the command line using sudo apt install bb, then run it and hit 8. You'll immediately get hit with a matrix style ASCII art, then it will go crazy with the ASCII art!

You won't regret it!

Bash Tab Completion Completer

I wish there were an easy way to generate the completions for a command line that would be generated if I were entering it and manually hitting tab. Like if I type ln --<Tab> I get a list of long options to the ln command. I'd like to be able to say, like, generate-completions-for 'ln --' and get out the same list. But there are environment variables that have to be set in order for compgen to work.

Latest Linux 5.11 on an 100 MHz "486" – AMD 5x85 "486" w/ 32MB RAM!

With some optimizations, improvements and fixes, I got latest t2/linux w/ kernel 5.11 running in a 486-class AMD 5x86 and later Cyrix Instead 5x86 (w/o cupid!). It is swapping a bit to death, guess I need to find more and larger memory DIMMs ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ Mostly to test pata_legacy; and obviously optimizations ;-)

Missing refresh rate in Xorg with RX 6800

I was lucky enough to procure an RX 6800 earlier this year, I was super excited to try out Linux with it, but I have had this issue ever since I installed Linux where it can only choose 120hz max, I have a "Xiaomi Mi Curved 34" which is capable of 3440x1440 @ 144hz.

I have tried Wayland (and Windows 10) and it works fine there so I guess I can just go Wayland, but there are still some hiccups with it in KDE Plasma, so I prefer Xorg for the time being. Do any of you know of a fix or the reason why this is happening? I have changed Display-port cable to 1.4 too.

EDIT: I have checked with xrandr, it says 120hz there aswell.

Debian DWM Autosetup

Greetings,

Recently I wrote a shell noscript to handle setting up a basic install of the Debian setup I want whenever I reinstall it. This is mainly because I have to switch Operating Systems frequently enough for University that it is a bit of pain.

The noscript sets up Xorg and dwm with st as the terminal, dmenu and sxiv as a simple image viewer. Since dwm uses these tools by default, I don't have to do much to set them up either. Still, the noscript could use some cleanup and even a rewrite sometime in the future. But for now, it has worked for me everytime I have needed it.
