Advice about Linux+/LPiC-1

Recently I completed the Linux Essentials course at Linux Academy and I was extremely disappointed, so much that I was going to continue but I cancelled the subnoscription.

I found that free NDG @Netacad covers far more in depth key topics, now I wonder if the course for the LPiC-1, which is divided in two modules, is as good as the Essentials is and prepares you enough for go and take the exam.

Thoughts? Ideas?
Thanks !

I'm looking for a hardware monitor

I'm getting into overclocking again and I'm in need of an app that will display

- CPU speed
- CPU load
- CPU temperature

GPU stats would be a great bonus

I'd prefer a nice GUI, but I'll use anything that meets my needs

I'm on Manjaro

Could you please help me if I can discover linux machines fo**r OS name & version, Installed patch date/ info** using any of the open source tools like nmap/openlmi? Or suggest me some tools that you know.

Why distros still have screen tearing? This is the reason I can't use it as my main OS!

Every year I try to switch to Linux full time. My laptop had screen tearing, my laptop now has screen tearing...

"TrearFree" fixes is but not fully. And the video quality is still bad compared to when using Windows 10.

Why it's so hard to fix it and what's the reason this to happen?

Tried Mx Linux, Lubuntu, Solus, Mint - All of them had it.

I have: Intel HD Graphics

I know it's old and not powerful but the video card is used on many laptops so it's not something "rare" to happen only to me.

Plan 9 and the future of Operating Systems?

I just found this [post](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=447435), scrolling down to a comment by user named "RobGR" this person mentions a plan at the bottom of his comment. I recently had mentioned about a similar plan, that is to say a network infrastructure where as User access and hardware resources are agnostic. All these resources can simply go where needed. Currently our infrastructure cannot do this because of our "bandwidth" restrictions. But, what if while you are on your phone you could seamlessly utilize the performance of every desktop in the house?

This is the dream, which I could go on about forever.

Thoughts? Any current projects working on some kind of Linux + Plan9 make-up? Taking the best of both worlds perhaps?

Razer Surround replacement for Linux?

I am going to be building a new gaming PC in under 6 months and I will be using Linux for the system mainly, but Razer Surround is a very, very good for FPS games and it will be really sad to see it go.

I am just looking for an alternative that has surround sound / HRTF support with the ability to customize where sounds feel like they are coming from, a compressor (for quiet sounds being loud, loud sounds being slightly quieter) and optionally, an EQ.

Does something exist for something like this? Been looking around the internet but nothing helpful has come up.

How does Bash interact with the OS?

I've been reading explanations about Bash and it's role in the typical Linux environment. Seems like it acts as an interface between system functions, such as file system manipulation, between the OS and the user. But, then, what is Bash using? Is it calling functions defined in the kernel in C or C++? If I were to, say, write a shell language, what resources would describe how to interact with the Linux end? Do all shells (fish, zsh) use the same API to interact with the OS, or are there more layers to it?
