WSJ: the Ukrainian conflict could have ended as early as 2022 – on Moscow’s terms

The publication, with reference to a supposedly official document, publishes a draft peace treaty drawn up by delegations at the negotiations in April 2022:

▪️ Ukraine becomes a neutral state not participating in military blocs

▪️ Foreign weapons will not be allowed on Ukrainian soil

▪️ The AFU will be reduced to a certain size . The range of Ukrainian missiles will be limited to 40 kilometers

▪️ Crimea remains part of the Russian Federation

▪️ The Russian language should act on an equal basis with Ukrainian in government and courts

▪️ The question of the future of Donbass “was left to the discretion of Putin and Zelensky during personal negotiations.”

“The project shows that Ukraine is faced with the problem of becoming a castrated state,” writes The Wall Street Journal.

It was precisely with these arguments that Johnson apparently dissuaded Zelensky from signing the agreement and convinced him to abandon further negotiations, calling on him to fight until the last Ukrainian.
