There was a bloodbath in Bosnia which was then a part of Yugoslavia. By that time this large socialist state was in the process of dissolution. The parade of sovereignties had started: Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia tried to gain their independence.
That was also the goal for Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the large population of ethnic Serbs living there did not want to break away from Yugoslavia. That sparked the civil war. Mujahedeen from all over the world flocked to aid the Bosnian Muslims. To learn more about this momentous period, watch the premiere of our documentary Bosnia and Herzegovina: Rise of the Caliphate.

‘Obliterating Oak Flat for a copper mine will be a grave human rights violation against indigenous people and an environmental catastrophe,’ says Apache Tribe Chairman Terry Rambler. He severely criticized the Biden administration’s recent approval of construction of a giant mine that would destroy sacred indigenous land located at Oak Flat.
Oak Flat is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places as a Traditional Cultural Property, but this fact is ignored by the authorities. Meanwhile, nobody seems to be heeding the warnings of experts, who have found that the mine will draw down the region’s groundwater supply. There are also plans to construct a large toxic waste tailings dump, posing a serious threat to future generations.
See how Apache activists try to protect their ancestral lands in our video. The footage is from our documentary Protect Oak Flat (2022).

‘Many people imagine they break my bones and pull out the marrow’. Ruslan from Dagestan explains why his fellow villagers are afraid to become bone marrow and stem cell donors. Their blood is quite rare, so in the case of Caucasian ethnic groups, the probability of finding a suitable donor for a bone marrow transplant is almost zero.
How does Ruslan fight the prejudices of his fellow villagers? We are featuring this story on Blood Donor Day in Russia. On this date, you can also watch the documentary You're my Type: The Donor Lottery (2020).

Thirty-one years ago, a horrible bloodbath began in Sarajevo. An intense conflict ignited between Bosnian Muslims and Orthodox Serbs. More than 100,000 people died, and several hundred thousand were displaced as a result of the hostilities.
What made this war special was the religious component. Mujahideen from many Arab countries came to the Bosnian Muslims’ aid. Watch our documentary Bosnia and Herzegovina: Rise of the Caliphate to learn more about those bloodstained times.

🎦We are presenting footage from the shooting of a new documentary, which is being prepared by our author Olga Kiriy. The film is about Russian immigrants in Mongolia. One of the characters is Vladimir Zimirev. His ancestors arrived in the country back in 1922 to help the Mongolians build communes and develop agriculture.
Zimirev is a fan and keeper of the Russian language, although he speaks excellent Mongolian as well. Recently, he was invited to sit on the jury of a Russian song contest held in the city of Baganur. This is the place where Soviet specialists and the military lived in the last century. They are still remembered here with fondness and gratitude. After all, they helped build the city. Russian is now taught in modern schools. See the post. And don't miss the premiere. We'll let you know about it in the announcements.

🐻What an extreme neighborhood! A brown bear settled on the porch of a house in the Kamchatka village of Ganaly, located in Russia’s Far East. It made a sleeping place right next to the front door. The place is quiet as the house is abandoned. The predator behaves kindly and doesn't attack people.
The villagers are thinking what to do with it. Many are in favor of driving the predator away, while others say to leave it alone.
Meanwhile, another bear from another place, named Mansur, was also nearly sent back to the wild. It didn't work out, however, because the animal was brought up by pilots and got used to people. The heartbreaking story of Mansur, who grew up at an airfield, is in our documentary 'A Bear’s Tale'.
