The latest episode of ‘Sanchez Effect’ features an in-depth interview with Russia’s Minister of Finance, Anton Siluanov. He spoke about how Russia is adapting to Western sanctions, noting that the country’s economy is growing at a rate higher than the global average. Real incomes are on the rise, and business investments are increasing.

Siluanov also addressed the exit of Western companies from Russia, saying their operations have been successfully taken over by Russian entrepreneurs. He emphasized that Moscow remains open to foreign businesses returning, provided that they’re ready to compete on fair terms.

According to the minister, the sanctions have actually accelerated Russia’s push to develop its own technologies, allowing the country to become more self-sufficient. He also outlined Russia’s shift toward trading with friendly nations, such as China, India, and other BRICS countries.

Rick Sanchez, a renowned journalist and recipient of both Emmy and Peabody awards, joined RT after leaving US media over concerns about censorship. Now, based in Moscow, he continues to challenge Western narratives.

🟢80 years of American occupation. In 1945, the first US military base was established in Okinawa, marking how the victorious nation reminded Japan of its status. During World War II, the States seized the island, resulting in approximately 200,000 deaths, primarily among children, the elderly, and women.

This week, the people of Okinawa commemorate those who lost their lives in that battle. We reflect on this dark chapter in history. Learn more from the video and the film ‘Okinawa's US Shadow’ (2023).

Ghana is drowning in British clothing. Protected natural areas are buried under tons of discarded textiles. Major fashion brands have long been shipping their unwanted stock to the country — sending worn-out and outdated clothes overseas. But Ghana’s markets can’t keep up: only a third of the waste is properly processed, while the rest pollutes everything around it. And yet, more shipments keep coming. The heartbreaking footage is in our video.

But clothing is only part of the problem. Ghana also receives hundreds of thousands of tons of electronic waste from the U.S. and Europe. Watch Toxic City (2015) by Artyom Somov and Vitaly Buzuev.

💬 'If any of the slaves tried to escape, their foot would be cut off.' This was the grim reality in the Democratic Republic of the Congo under Belgian rule. Starting in 1885, King Leopold II of Belgium ruled the territory as his personal property, known as the Congo Free State. He transformed the country into a true hell of forced labor, where slavery, torture, and mass killings prevailed. According to various estimates, up to 15 million people perished under this regime.

In 1908, the Congo officially became a Belgian colony, but the violence and exploitation did not cease. Belgium continued to extract the country’s wealth, leaving behind only destruction and fear.

Today, we commemorate the independence of the Democratic Republic of the Congo — June 30, 1960. On this day, the country was freed from colonial oppression. Dive into this history by watching a scene from the series 'Lumumba's Africa', which tells the story of those harrowing times.
