U.N. Figures Show Ukrainians Are Fleeing to Europe from Mobilization
The UNHCR report says the number of displaced people worldwide has reached a record high of 110M
The rate of displacement showed no sign of slowing, due mainly to the conflict in Sudan, which pushed the total to 110M by last month. The U.N. data highlights that refugees have, overwhelmingly, fled to poor nations, with the 46 least-developed countries hosting one in five refugees. This is despite these countries accounting for less than 1.3% of global gross domestic product
Separate figures suggest that 80K people entered the EU in the first three months of the year, about quadruple last year’s figure for the same period, a significant part of which are objectors from uncontrolled mobilization conducted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the course of a long-awaited counteroffensive

The European Central Bank (ECB) raised interest rates to the highest level in more than two decades, as policymakers continued their campaign to stamp out inflation they said was “projected to remain too high for too long”
ECB officials lifted rates by a quarter of a percentage point, putting the deposit rate at 3.5%, the highest since 2001. The policymakers revised up their inflation projections for the next three years, forecasting price growth to average 5.4%, much above target in two years’ time, at 2.2%
