When the Messenger of Allāh صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ prayed the funeral prayer he would recite:

“O' Allāh forgive our living and our dead, those who are present and those who are absent, our young and our old, our menfolk and our womenfolk. O' Allāh, whomsoever amongst us You keep alive, then let such a life be upon Islām, and whom amongst us You take unto Yourself, then let such a death be upon Faith. O’ Allāh, do not deprive us of his reward and do not let us stray after him.”

A scholar of the past was over 100 years old with a sharp intellect, good sight, keen hearing & remarkable physical strength.

He explained, "I kept these body parts away from disobedience in my youth, so Allah preserved them for me in my old age."

Spread the Salam for It will Create Love Between You – Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan

Therefore spreading the salām between the Muslims is something desired and sought. And the meaning of al-Salāmu ʿAlaykum is: “Supplicating for the safety of the Muslims’, and it is also said that it means: “May the name of Allah be upon you” because from the names of Allah is al-Salām. So when you say “al-Salāmu ʿAlaykum..” it means “the name of Allah upon you” since Allah is al-Salām. This is a great statement that is spread amongst the Muslims. The Prophet ﷺ said, “None of you will enter paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you about something which, if you do it, you will love one another? Spread salām amongst yourselves.” [Muslim (54), Aḥmad (2/391), and al-Tirmidhī (2513) narrated from Abū Hurayrāh]

Therefore, the spreading of al-Salāmu ʿAlaykum develops love in the hearts, since if a Muslim were to meet you and he did not say al-Salāmu ʿAlaykum it may cause you to have something in your heart for him, you might say to yourself “Why didn’t he greet me?” But if he greets you then it would remove what you have inside your heart and you would befriend and love him. This endorses the statement of the Prophet ﷺ “Shall I not inform you what will make you love one another? Spread the Salām between yourselves.” So the spreading of the Salām has a great effect on the Muslims.

Q: Is it Wajib (obligatory) to be grateful to Allah in affliction?

A: It is Wajib to be patient. As for contentment and gratitude, they are only Mustahab (desirable). There are three matters at the time of affliction: Patience which is Wajib, contentment is a Sunnah (whatever is reported from the Prophet), and gratitude is the best.

From the advice of Ibn Umar:

Al-Laith bin Sa
d and others have said: A man wrote to Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما saying: Write down (gather) for me all the knowledge. So Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما wrote back to him: “Verily! Ilm is vast. But if you are capable of:

1. Meeting Allaah تعالى with a light load on your back from (not spilling) the blood of people (unjustly) [1],
2. Having a slender belly by avoiding people’s wealth [2],
3. Restraining the tongue from (playing with) people’s honor,
4. Sticking to their Jamaa

then do so.”

*THE ONE WHO VIOLATES THE HONOUR OF THE SCHOLARS, FALLS INTO ONE OF THESE THREE- SHAYKH FAWZAAN*

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said:

None violates the honour of the scholars who are upon the truth, except one of three [people]: Either a hypocrite known for [his] hypocrisy, or an evil sinner who hates the scholars because they prevent him from his sinful [acts] of disobedience, or a misguided hizbi who hates the scholars because they neither agree with his hizbiyyah nor with his deviated views.

Why People Invent Bid’ah in religion:

Mu’âdh b. Jabal – Allâh be pleased with him – used to say:

Ahead of you are times of trials (fitan) in which there will be much wealth and in which the Qur’ân will be opened and taken (read) by believers and hypocrites, men and women, young and old and freemen and slaves. At that time it is likely that there will be people who will say, “Why aren’t the people following me when I have read the Qur’ân? They will not follow me until I invent something else.” So, beware of everything that is innovated (in religion), for those things that are innovated are misguidance.
