📜 Context: Iranian Involvement in Bosnia

During the Bosnian War (1992–1995), Iran played a role in supporting Bosniak forces. Through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran provided military advisers, training, and strategic planning assistance to the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH). It was one of the rare moments in the 90's where Iran and other major powers like Saudi Arabia and Turkey were all on one side.

🇧🇦🐅 Rare footage of a Bosnian Tiger spotted in its natural environment. Its existence was first documented by the Bosnian explorer and merchant Muhamed Islamović from Goražde, near the modern town of Bihać. He called it the Goražde Tiger because he did not understand the Krajina accent and did not care for the opinions of the locals. Under the communists, it was renamed to the less offensive name “Bosnian Tiger.”

Dervish Pasha Dedaga Čengić (1823 - 1874)

-was born in Lipnik, the son of Smail-aga Čengić an Ottoman military commander. After the treacherous murder of his father, he succeeded him at just 18 years of age. He led military campaigns against the Drobnjaks and Piva tribes to avenge his father, defeated the Montenegrins at the Battle of Tušine, and emerged victorious in combat against Drago Kovačević, regarded as the greatest Montenegrin hero. From 1855, he served as serhad commander (border troops commander) with the rank of nuvalay (colonel), a position he held for 20 years. In 1869, for his military merits, he was granted the noscript of Pasha (equivalent to today’s general). He was the most beloved member of the Čengić family among the people of Gacko. He lived in Sarajevo, where he built a villa in an area that is still known today as Čengić Vila.

درويش باشا ديداغا تشينغيتش (1823–1874) وُلد في ليبنيك، وهو ابن سمايل آغا تشينغيتش وقائد عسكري عثماني. بعد الاغتيال الغادر لوالده، خلفه وهو في الثامنة عشرة من عمره فقط. قاد حملات عسكرية ضد قبيلتي دروبنياك وبيفا ثأرًا لوالده، وهزم الجبل الأسود في معركة توشيني، وخرج منتصرًا في قتال ضد دراغو كوفاتشيفيتش، الذي يُعد أعظم بطل في تاريخ الجبل الأسود.

ومنذ عام 1855 خدم كقائد للسرحد (قائد قوات الحدود) برتبة نوفالاي (عقيد)، وهو المنصب الذي شغله لمدة عشرين عامًا. وفي عام 1869، وبسبب إنجازاته العسكرية، مُنح لقب باشا (وهو ما يعادل رتبة جنرال في الوقت الحاضر).

عاش في سراييفو، حيث بنى فيلا في منطقة لا تزال تُعرف حتى اليوم باسم تشينغيتش فيلا.

🇧🇦🇸🇮 "What you are looking at is a mosque in Log pod Mangartom in Slovenia, built in 1916. It was constructed by Bosniaks from the 6th Bosnian-Herzegovinian Rifle Battalion, who fought against Italy on the Soča Front.

They were such skilled and brave warriors that the inhabitants of Kranjska Gora long frightened the Italians by claiming that Bosniak troops were still stationed at the Vršič mountain pass.

The Italians never captured this pass nor advanced as far as Ljubljana, but after the First World War, out of revenge, they demolished this mosque down to its foundations and placed crosses on the graves of 102 Bosniak soldiers. Only in 2007 were the original nišans (Muslim tombstones) returned to the cemetery."
