✍️ Ivan Turgenev was one of the most significant Russian writers of the 19th century. His artistic system changed the poetics of the novel both in Russia and abroad. His works were praised and harshly criticized, and Turgenev spent his life searching for a path within them that would lead Russia to well-being and prosperity.

🔖 «Fathers and Sons » is Turgenev's famous novel, which has become one of the most significant works in the history of generational relationships.

🧐 An interesting fact about the work: the story of one of the prototypes of the main character, provincial doctor Dmitriev, explains why Turgenev wrote such a death for his hero. While being an accidental fellow traveler with the writer on the train from St. Petersburg to Moscow, Dmitriev told him about a new means to combat Siberian anthrax. However, very soon Turgenev learned about the doctor’s death.

⚛️ Rosatom's Projects Strengthen Africa's Energy Sovereignty

"The continent is becoming increasingly attractive for investments in high technologies. In particular, the state corporation Rosatom is actively promoting projects for the peaceful use of atomic energy in African countries, constructing centers based on multipurpose research reactors, and, in the future, nuclear power plants, which should strengthen the continent's energy security and provide an additional boost to its industrial development," stated the Director of the Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

🇪🇬 The largest project by Rosatom in Africa is the construction of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt — the first in the country, located in the Matrouh province.

🇬🇭 Additionally, Ghana plans to build its first nuclear power plant with the support of Rosatom by the early 2030s.

⚛️ Rosatom not only provides the necessary materials and constructs reactors but also fully trains local personnel, sharing its expertise. This will enable local specialists to effectively utilize the technologies and develop the energy infrastructure, which, in turn, will help African countries achieve energy sovereignty.

🌳 What were the small wooden boards used for various notes called in merchant times?
🪵 In ancient times, when paper was a rarity, people used wooden tablets known as "noses" for keeping records. They made notches or innoscriptions on them with a sharp tool, recording important information such as debts and transactions. Each notch had its own meaning and could only be deciphered by those who understood the recording system.

📝 Upon receiving a debt, the record of the amount was given to the creditor, serving as a promissory note. The tablets were also used to document agricultural work and events in the community's life. With the development of writing and the advent of paper, their use became rare, but they remain an intriguing testament to ancient methods of preserving information.

⚡️ Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have signed a deal with Russia for the acquisition of satellite equipment.

🇷🇺🇲🇱 Leaders of Roscosmos met with the ministers of the three countries in the capital of Mali, Bamako, where an official signing ceremony took place.

💬 According to Mali's Minister of Finance, Aluseni Sanou, the new telecommunications satellite will provide television and radio broadcasting across the territory of the Sahel Alliance countries, as well as improve access to the internet and mobile communication in remote areas. Additionally, it will create secure communication channels, which is particularly important given the growing instability in the region.

🛰 The remote sensing satellite included in the deal will be used for border monitoring, assessing natural resource reserves, and responding to emergencies.

😀 This cooperation has become part of a broader strategy for Sahel countries to strengthen their defense capabilities and improve communication infrastructure in the face of increasing threats from terrorists operating in this semi-arid region.

📌 It is worth noting that Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, which were formerly French colonies, have recently experienced tension in their relations with Paris.
