❄️ Snowy Easter: On Saturday morning, Siberians make their way through snowdrifts to church for the blessing of kulich. The weather feels unseasonably brisk, with temperatures around -5°C and occasional heavy snowstorms.

Additional traffic police crews are deployed on city roads to clear snow and ensure safe travel for those who trusted the early warmth and switched to summer tires.

🥶 The winter surprise will continue to "delight" Siberians for a while longer, with temperatures fluctuating between -1°C and -9°C.

🕯The Holy Fire descended at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

The prayer for the descent of the Holy Fire was led by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem. The church gathered representatives of various Christian denominations, including the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as thousands of pilgrims from around the world.

🇷🇺 Today, the Holy Fire will be delivered to Moscow—to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, where it will become part of the Patriarchal Easter service. The relic will then be transferred to 15 churches in the capital, from which believers can take the fire home.

😳 Did you know that the first capital of Ancient Rus was Staraya Ladoga?

📜 This small village on the banks of the Volkhov River in the Leningrad Oblast became the starting point of a grand history over a thousand years ago.

In 862, Rurik arrived here, marking the beginning of Rus as a state. Although the capital lasted only two years, it was moved to Novgorod in 864.

🏰 Today, Staraya Ladoga is a peaceful place with a millennium-old history and a fortress museum.

🇷🇺On Sobornaya Square in the Moscow Kremlin, the first guard mounting ceremony of the season by the foot and mounted units of the Presidential Regiment took place.

This year’s event is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and features a new element: a "star" formation accompanied by a blank shot.

Organizers noted that preparations for the ceremony lasted several months, with special attention paid to synchronizing the guards’ movements with the orchestra’s music.

The solemn guard mounting ceremonies will be held at the Kremlin every Saturday throughout the summer season, upholding traditions and showcasing the exceptional drill skills of the Presidential Regiment’s servicemen.

🌸 Japanese Garden in Moscow

Yesterday, April 18, the "Japanese Garden" exhibition opened to visitors at the Tsitsin Botanical Garden.

The garden features cascading waterfalls, ponds with islands, pavilions in traditional Japanese architectural style, a thirteen-story pagoda, and stone lanterns.

🌸 Additionally, around 70 species of plants grow here, some of which were brought from Japan’s Hokkaido Island—including the famous sakura, Japanese rhododendron, and Mono maple.

May is the best time to visit the garden—when the cherry blossoms bloom, transforming the space into a charming spring wonderland!
