Dear generalists, how do you spread different types of work on your reel?
Hello, dear C4D folk
I'm a generalist Motion Designer+3d Artist who's working on his new demo reel and I've been dwelling over this question: how do you spread different types of work on your reel?
I do mostly 3d Character Animation, Product Animation (both 3d and 2d/Ui), Explainers/Promos and Music Videos. I'm sure many of you also do a lot of different stuff as Motion Designers/Animators, since that's how the business works (at least for a generalist).
Do you make individual sections for each different type of work (e.g: start with all the 3d character animation you wanna show, then move into explainers, etc) or do you mix everything together?
I feel like my 3d stuff is the most interesting I got and I feel like I should put most of it in the first part of the reel, but I don't want to bury other stuff. I also really enjoy doing music videos, even though it's probably the smallest chunk of my work but I'd like to get a few more chances to work on that, so I'm not sure how to proceed about this.
Please let me know your thoughts, thank you!

Noticing most of the new Cinema 4D courses are Korean or Chinese produced?
Hey guys, question. I'm noticing past 2023 most of the new big courses, outside of School of Motion which is US based, a lot of the courses are coming from Korea / China. Courses like Coloso etc.
Do you think there is a reason for this? I know Giant Step is Korean etc, and I'm thinking due to Korean media etc they're pipeline training most of the juniors into Cinema 4D. I then noticed a lot of Chinese companies are also training their users to use it. It appears to me there's more of a push for new courses and demand in Asia than there is in the US. I feel like US is heavily Blender users now, and traditional studio stuff like Maya Houdini.
This is a guess but Maxon's sales team could have even done a push into Asian agency studios. It's good stable software for agency work after all, and easier to learn then Blender.
We of course still have Eyedesyn, and Greyscale Gorilla, all the older guys we used to get training from. I just remember 5 years back when those guys would be dropping new videos every single month and supporting the junior artists like crazy with new education. I just feel like there's way less senior C4D guys creating Youtube tutorials anymore, and with Blender they literally have more videos being dropped per week than anybody. I don't really want to switch though.

Maxon scamming me
Is anyone else getting charged for auto renew 2 weeks early despite cancelling? I randomly just got charged $1.3K for a Jan 15 renewal even though I cancelled my subnoscription over a year ago, I have the email confirmation and everything. This feels so unethical and hope it isn’t happening to anyone else

Why is Xpresso animation lagging in Cinema 4D and how can I fix it?
Hi! I created an animation in Xpresso with logic written in a Python noscript. Why is there always a delay between objects, and how can I fix it? Even at the cost of performance? I want all the motion logic to be calculated in Xpresso first, and only then the frame is updated.
