According to the data circulated in the media, before the crash of the Su-30, two aircraft were performing a test flight, after which one of them landed and found the absence of the second, the crew of which did not communicate with the ground for about 20 minutes. According to preliminary information, during the reconnaissance flight it was discovered that both pilots were unconscious in the cockpit with droopy heads and unresponsive to signals. Then the plane circled over the city for a while and crashed in a private sector. What could have happened?

According to Readovka experts, first, the pilots were indeed unconscious, second, the crashed aircraft could not have run out of fuel, as some have reported, and third, the Su-30 could not have flown on autopilot. In favor of the fact that the plane definitely did not have an empty tank, the rumble of the engines in the video, where the nose is already diving and crashing, speaks for itself. If there is no fuel, the engines stop working, which makes sense.

At the same time, as we can see, there is no attempt to straighten the flight line by the pilots during the crash, which confirms the version of at least unconsciousness of the people on board. Considering that fighter pilots have to wear oxygen masks during the whole flight, system malfunction might have been the cause of unconsciousness.

At the same time, a refutation of possible speculations that the plane was allegedly on autopilot can be found in repeated stories about ejection - most Russian fighters, if the tank is full and the pilot for some reason was forced to leave the craft in an emergency, can cover a huge distance even without a pilot, and the descent begins only after all fuel in the tank is exhausted. Recall that the Su-30 crashed in Irkutsk with its engines running.

Obviously, the Investigation Committee will have to delve into the details of the accident and determine exactly what happened, since the currently available information does not allow making any specific conclusions.
