UN Watchdog Says Iran 'Sharply Increased' Stockpile Of Near Weapons-Grade Uranium

IAEA inspectors have reportedly carried out 'daily inspections' of Iran's nuclear facilities, as officials indicate the agency is facing pressure from Israel's close European allies

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says Iran has significantly increased its stockpile of near weapons-grade uranium since its last report in November, according to documents reviewed by AP.

Tehran's 60 percent enriched uranium stockpile has reportedly surged by 92.5 kilograms (203.9 pounds), reaching 274.8 kilograms (605.8 pounds) as of 8 February.

“The significantly increased production and accumulation of high enriched uranium by Iran, the only non-nuclear-weapon State to produce such nuclear material, is of serious concern,” the UN nuclear watchdog says in its confidential report.

“We are in contact with the [IAEA] and are under its supervision. The agency's inspectors also conduct their inspections daily according to the existing schedule,” the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, told reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on 26 February.

Eslami added that the E3 nations – Germany, France, and the UK – have increased their pressure on the IAEA to censure Iran. “We hope that the agency will respect the rights of all nations in accordance with its charter and refrain from politicizing the relevant issue,” Eslami added.

Hundreds Of Media Workers Condemn BBC For ‘Dehumanizing’ Censorship Of Gaza Documentary

Staffers have repeatedly accused executives and editors at the British public broadcaster of having a strong pro-Israel bias and exhibiting racism against Arabs

Over 500 film, TV, and media workers have condemned BBC executives for “racism” and “censorship” after the British broadcaster pulled a documentary highlighting the horrific impact the US–Israeli genocide in Gaza has had on Palestinian children.

“As industry professionals who craft stories for the British public, including for the BBC, we condemn the weaponization of a child’s identity and the racist insinuation that Palestinian narratives must be scrutinized through a lens of suspicion,” the letter reads.

The letter also condemned a “racist” and “dehumanizing” campaign targeting the film ‘Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone,’ which the BBC removed from its iPlayer streaming service after pressure from pro-Israel activists.

“If every documentary made in conflict zones were subjected to this level of politicized scrutiny regarding contributors, filmmaking in these areas would become virtually impossible,” the letter adds, highlighting that “silencing a child’s firsthand account of survival in Gaza, where over 13,000 children have been killed since October 2023, is not about compliance but about erasing Palestinian suffering.”

Signatories of the protest letter include Gary Lineker, Anita Rani, Ruth Negga, Juliet Stevenson, Khalid Abdalla, and Miriam Margolyes.

🚨Israel Will Not Withdraw From Philadelphi Corridor As Stipulated In Ceasefire

Israel agreed to withdraw from the corridor during the second phase.

Israel will not withdraw from the Philadelphi corridor -- the border separating Egypt and Gaza -- as stipulated by the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, an Israeli official confirmed to ABC News.

"We will not allow Hamas murderers to once again roam our borders with pickup trucks and guns, and we will not allow them to rebuild strength from smuggling," an Israeli official said in a statement.

Delegations from Israel and Qatar arrived in Cairo on Thursday for negotiations on the Gaza ceasefire deal. The talks, mediated by Egyptian officials, will also be attended by U.S. representatives.

The Philadelphi corridor was one of the main sticking points in negotiations between Israel and Hamas for months before the current ceasefire deal was reached. This refusal could lead to a crisis with both Hamas and Egypt, the key mediator, at a delicate time for the already fragile truce.

Israel was supposed to begin withdrawing from the Philadelphi corridor -- and the entire Gaza Strip -- on Saturday, the last day of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. Israel was to complete its withdrawal from the corridor within eight days.

Management of the corridor is a red line for Hamas, which had refused to accept ceasefire proposals that did not require Israel to withdraw its troops from the border region.

President Trump has shared a bizarre video generated by artificial intelligence that showed what the president’s vision for turning the Palestinian territory into the “Riviera of the Middle East” might look like, drawing backlash on social media.

The video showed a gold statue of Trump, what appeared to be Elon Musk dancing under falling money, and Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lounging on chairs near a pool, among other things.

In response ... Basem Naim, a senior Hamas official, told Newsweek that Trump was “once again proposing ideas that do not take into account the cultures and interests of the people.”

“The people of Gaza are looking forward to the day when they see Gaza rebuilt, economically revived and building a better future for its children, but this cannot succeed inside the big prison,” he added. “We are not struggling to improve prison conditions, but to get rid of the prison and the jailer.”

Trump shared the video after his repeated calls for the US to “take over” Gaza, a plan that would require an ethnic cleansing campaign since he has said the Palestinians must leave and wouldn’t have a right to return.

Trump’s idea has been strongly rejected by the Palestinians in Gaza and the regional Arab states. Egypt and other Arab countries have been developing a plan to rebuild Gaza that would allow its residents to stay.

Trump has signaled he’s ready to back Israel if it restarts its genocidal war on Gaza amid the incredibly fragile ceasefire and hostage deal. The Israeli siege and bombing campaign on Gaza since October 2023 has killed nearly 62,000 Palestinians, a number that doesn’t include indirect deaths caused by the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure.

Donald Trump ’s second presidential administration shut down a national database that tracked misconduct by federal police, a resource that policing reform advocates hailed as essential to prevent officers with misconduct records from being able to move undetected between agencies.

The National Law Enforcement Accountability Database (NLEAD), which stored police records documenting misconduct, is now unavailable, the Washington Post first reported .

The US justice department also confirmed the database’s elimination in a statement issued online.

Israeli Army's 7 Oct Probe Further Confirms Implementation Of Hannibal Directive

Israeli choppers fired over 11,000 shells on 'anything that moved' near the Gaza separation wall on 7 October 2023

A top-level internal probe of the Israeli army's failures on 7 October 2023 has reaffirmed that the air force was ordered to carry out the Hannibal Directive a few hours after the Palestinian resistance in Gaza launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

The Hannibal Directive is a long-standing Israeli military protocol aimed at preventing the capture of Israeli hostages, even at the risk of their lives.

According to the report, at around 10:30am, the air force began firing on “anything that moved” near the Gaza border. At the same time, Israeli pilots were tasked with carrying out the previously undisclosed "Sword of Damocles" operation, which focused “on striking Hamas targets inside Gaza.”

By the end of the day, the air force carried out 945 attacks on the Gaza envelope, with helicopters firing 11,000 shells on both Hamas fighters and Israeli settlers and soldiers...

Many of the 251 Israeli soldiers and civilians successfully taken captive were later killed by Israeli airstrikes and friendly fire from soldiers.

...The army's report comes just weeks after former Israeli defense minister and wanted war criminal Yoav Gallant acknowledged ordering the army to use the Hannibal Directive to kill Israeli civilians and soldiers during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

Multiple investigations by The Cradle and other news outlets since October 2023 disclosed that a large portion of the 1,200 Israelis who died on 7 October 2023 were killed by their army.

On November 30, 2023, negotiations were underway between Israel and Hamas to extend a temporary ceasefire that had begun a week before.

The previous few days had been marked by jubilant scenes of reuniting families as the Palestinian resistance released 105 women, children, elderly people, and foreigners taken captive on October 7, and Israel released 240 Palestinian hostages and prisoners – 107 of whom were under 18 and three-quarters had not been convicted of a crime.

Relatives of Shiri, Yarden, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, the orange-haired family that became a symbol of October 7 around the world, hoped for good news as Hamas released captives. However, each day their hopes were dashed as their loved ones’ names did not appear on any of the lists.

On the morning of November 30, another nightmare unfolded when Hamas published a video of Yarden Bibas screaming in agony after being informed that his wife and two young children had been killed in an Israeli airstrike.

“Netanyahu, you bombed and killed my wife and my two children, who were the most important things in my life! Bring them back home so they can be buried in Israel! I beg you to bring me, my wife, and my children back home!” he wailed.

The video contained Hamas’ offer to “transfer the Bibas family's bodies and release their father for their burial, along with two Zionist detainees.”

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari called the video “psychological terror” and said it was working to determine if Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas had indeed been killed.

Hours after Hamas published the video, negotiations to extend the ceasefire broke down.

Israel’s mega-assault on the Gaza Strip resumed, having already killed at least 14,800 Palestinians including 6,000 children. With the full backing of the Biden administration, the slaughter would continue until January 2025, when U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, just days before taking office, forced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire.

While Israel blamed Hamas for the breakdown of the ceasefire, contemporaneous reports indicate that Netanyahu walked away from negotiations in order to avoid the transfer of the Bibas family’s corpses....

Trump Returns To Maximum Pressure Policy Against Venezuela

President Donald Trump announced that he would reimpose all sanctions from his first administration on Venezuela. President Joe Biden granted some companies temporary licenses to do business in Venezuela in an effort to improve ties with Caracas.

“We are hereby reversing the concessions that Crooked Joe Biden gave to Nicolás Maduro, of Venezuela, on the oil transaction agreement, dated November 26, 2022,” Trump wrote on TruthSocial. “I am therefore ordering that the ineffective and unmet Biden “Concession Agreement” be terminated as of the March 1st option to renew. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

During Donald Trump’s first administration, he significantly stepped up sanctions on Venezuela, a policy known as “maximum pressure.” Additionally, he backed a coup attempt by Juan Guaido against President Nicolas Maduro.

The Biden administration made some efforts to warm ties with Caracas but with no notable success. In October 2023 , the Biden administration lifted some sanctions on Venezuela’s mining and oil sectors, and Maduro agreed to hold elections in 2024.

The deal quickly crumbled after the Venezuelan Supreme Court barred Washington’s two preferred candidates from running in the election, and the sanctions were reimposed.

US oil giant Chevron was granted a license in 2022 to do business with Caracas. However, the total sanctions regime against the Venezuelan economy has limited the impact of that venture.

While Trump leveled charges of election rigging against Maduro to justify canceling the Chevron deal, he added that Caracas was not accepting deportation flights from the US at a fast enough pace. “Additionally, the regime has not been transporting the violent criminals that they sent into our Country (the Good Ole’ U.S.A.) back to Venezuela at the rapid pace that they had agreed to,” the President wrote.

Shortly after Trump returned to the White House in January, Crisis Envoy Ric Grenell met with Maduro and secured the release of six Americans. Maduro also agreed to accept Venezuelan nationals deported from the US.

Maduro viewed the meeting with Grenell as an opening to improve ties with Washinton. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio then traveled to the Dominican Republic and seized Maduro’s plane, alleging the aircraft was used to violate sanctions.
