PROPHET: ABRAHAM - IBRAHIM (عليه السلام)

PART: 3 (Chapter – 6)

ABRAHAM AND HIS FATHER

His first call was directed towards his father, who worshiped idols. As a father, he deserved most sincere advice. Allah said in the Qur’an: mention in the Book (the Qur'an) Ibrahim (Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet. When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? "O my father! Verily! There has come to me of knowledge that which came not unto you. So follow me. I will guide you to a Straight Path. "O my father! Worship not Shaitan (Satan). Verily! Shaitan (Satan) has been a rebel against the Most Beneficent (Allah)."O my father! Verily! I fear lest a torment from the Most Beneficent (Allah) overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitan (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)."
[Tafsir Al-Qurtubi] (19: 41-45)

He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you." Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "Peace be on you! I will ask Forgiveness of my Lord for you. Verily! He is unto me, Ever Most Gracious. "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be unblessed in my invocation to my Lord." (19:46-48)

In this above mentioned Verse, Allah has mentioned the conversation and argument that went on between him and his father. He has mentioned how Abraham invited his father towards the way of Truth in gentleness and politeness. He explained to him why he was wrong in worshiping idols which neither have the capability to hear what its worshipers invoke them for, nor could they see. How, then, could they avail anybody’s needs, or provide them with provision or help? Then Abraham told his father about what Allah has bestowed upon him of guidance and beneficial knowledge for the guidance of mankind, though he was younger in his age than his father. He said:
“O my father! I have received such knowledge as has not come to you, so follow me and I will guide you to the Straight Path.” (19:43).
Meaning a way which is clear and easy, which leads you straight towards Allah, and which brings all the goodness of this life and the life in the Hereafter.

TAWHĪD IS A PROTECTION

Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله Said:

Nothing Repels the Difficulties of the Duniyā the way al-Tawḥīd does;

And for that Reason the Duʿāʾ to be Made upon Difficulties has al-Tawḥīd,

And the duʿāʾ of Yūnus (ʿalayhi al-salām)

The Duʿāʾ which No one in Difficulty Makes Except that Allāhﷻ relieves him of his Difficulty - Contains Tawḥīd.

And nothing Casts a Person into the Greatest of Difficulties the Way al-Shirk does;

And Nothing Saves one From it Except al-Tawḥīd,

For it (ie: al-Tawḥīd) is Protection and Refuge of the Creation, their Fortification and Greatest source of Help.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الإمام ابن كثير ‎ - قصص الأنبياء

PROPHET: ABRAHAM - IBRAHIM (عليه السلام)

PART: 4 (Chapter – 6)

When Abraham offered his father the Divine guidance and sincere advice, he rejected them, and threatened to stone him if he did not cease from it. “O Abraham? Surely, if you do not relent, I shall stone you and now leave me alone for a good long time.” (19:46) Abraham replied to him: “Peace be upon you.” He said to his father: No harm will reach you from my side, nor would you face any insult. You are safe as far as I am concerned. Instead, you would see good from me: “I will pray to my Lord to forgive you; indeed, He is to me the Most Gracious.” (19:47)

Ibn Abbas said: The word Hafiyya in the Verse means kind and gentle, which meant Allah was Kind to me in granting me His guidance to worship Him and to worship Him in proper way, and so he said: “I am leaving you and those whom you invoke besides Allah. I will invoke my Lord, that I may be blessed in my invocation.”

And indeed Abraham sought forgiveness from Allah for his father, as he promised to him. However, when it became clear to him that he was an enemy to Allah, he dissociated himself from him as the Qur’an said: “And Abraham’s act of seeking forgiveness for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became clear to him that he was an enemy to Allah, he dissociated himself from him. Surely, Abraham was most tender-hearted, forbearing.”

It is narrated from Abu Hurairah who reported from the Prophet ﷺ saying: “Abraham will meet his father Azar on the Day of Judgement and he will se his face miserable and full of dust. Abraham would say to him: ‘Did I not tell you that you should not disobey me?’ His father would reply to him: ‘Today I shall not disobey you.’ Abraham would answer to him: ‘O Lord! You promised me that You shall not disgrace me on the Day of Judgement. So today there is no disgrace greater than the disgrace of my father being away from me.’ Allah would say then: ‘I have made the Paradise forbidden for the disbelievers.’ Then it would be said: ‘O Abraham! What is under your feet? Then, he will look, only to find a stained sacrifice (Dhikh- A hyena). It will be taken by its legs and thrown in the Hell-fire.”
(Al-Bukhari 3350)
[His father shall be transformed into a Hyena and thrown in the Hell-Fire]

“And when Abraham said to his father Aazar: Do you take idols for gods? Indeed, I see you and your people in manifest error.”

This Verse shows that the name of the father of Abraham was Aazar. However, the majority of genealogists, including Ibn Abbas, say that his name was Terah, while Ahlul-Kitaab (People of the Book) also say Terah. So, it is suggested that Aazar was the name of the idol his father worshiped and he was nicknamed after it.

Ibn Jarir says: The correct opinion is that his name was Aazar and perhaps he had two names. Or one of them is his name and the other is his nickname.

الإمام ابن كثير ‎ - قصص الأنبياء

PROPHET: ABRAHAM - IBRAHIM (عليه السلام)

PART: 5 (Chapter – 6)

THE STAR, THE MOON, THE SUN – CELESTIAL BODIES!

“Thus We did show Abraham the dominion of the heavens and the earth, that he would be certain in his Faith. When the night outspread over him, he saw a star, and said: ‘This is my Lord’. But when it set, he said: ‘I do not love the one which set.’ When he saw the moon shining full, he said: ‘This is my Lord.’ But when the moon set, he said: ‘Unless my Lord guides me, I shall be among those who go astray.’ When he saw the sun rise, he said: ‘This is my Lord, this is greater.’ But when the sub set, he said: ‘O my people! Surely, I am free of that which you associate with God.’” (6:75-78)

THE ARGUMENTATION BETWEEN ABRAHAM AND HIS PEOPLE

He showed them [and through them to all mankind], that those celestial bodies which they observe, whether during the day or night, are not fit to be God or Divine. They do not deserve to be worshiped besides Allah, because they are only creatures that are cared for, directed and controlled. They rise and they set and disappear. While Allah is the Almighty, nothing could disappear nor can hide from Him. He is Everlasting and Eternal, and there is no God or Lord (worthy of worship) besides Him.

First, he explained to them that stars are not fit for this status (of being worshiped). Then, he moved to the moon that is brighter and more beautiful than the stars. Thereafter, he moved to the sun that is the brightest and most beautiful of the celestial bodies and explained that even it was subjected and controlled. Allah says: “And of His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, prostrate not to the sun and the moon, but prostrate yourselves to Allah, Who created them, if it is He that you worship.”

إِنِّي وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

That is why Allah said: “When he saw the sun rise (the word ‘Bazighatan’ denotes here to rise) he said: ‘This is my Lord, this is greater.’ But when the sun set, he said: ‘O my people! Surely, I am free of that which you associate (with Allah).
I have turned my face sincerely to Allah, the One Who created the heavens and the earth, I shall not be of those who associate partners (with Allah).’ His people argued with him.

He said: ‘Do you dispute with me with regard to Allah, when He has guided me? I fear not that which you associate with Him, unless my Lord wills otherwise.’” (6:78-80).
He said that I do not care about these gods which you worship besides Allah, because they cannot benefit or harm anyone, nor can they hear or understand anything. They are creatures of Allah, subjected to Him, like the stars; or they are manufactured, hewed out of stones or carved out of woods.

Matter of Isolating Oneself and Not Mixing with People :

الإمام ابن كثير ‎ - قصص الأنبياء

PROPHET: ABRAHAM - IBRAHIM (عليه السلام)

PART: 6 (Chapter – 6)

BABYLON AND IDOL WORSHIP

The people of Babylon worshiped idols and they are those with whom Abraham argued about their patterns of worship, broke their idols in pieces in all humiliation and proved their falsehood. As Allah said: “And he said: ‘You have taken idols (for worship) other than Allah, only out of mutual affection between yourselves in this life. But on the Day of Judgement, you will reject each other, and you will curse each other, and your abode will be the Fire, and you will have no helpers.’” (29:25)

“And We bestowed on Abraham before, his rectitude of conduct, and We were well-aware of him. When he said to his father and his people: ‘What are these statues to which you are so devoted?’ They said: ‘We found our fathers worshiping them.’ He said: ‘You and your fathers are certainly in manifest error.’ They said: ‘Have you come to us with the truth or you are only a jester?’ He said: ‘But your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who originated them, and I am one of those who bear witness to that.” (21:51-56)

BLIND FOLLOWING FOREFATHERS IN IDOL WORSHIP

Here Allah has informed us that Abraham renounced the practice of his people in their worship of idols and demeaned it by saying: “What are these statues to which you are so devoted?” (21:52) Meaning you attend to them with devotion and humility. “They said: ‘We found our fathers worshiping them.” (21:53)
Their evidence was nothing but blind following of the patterns of their fathers and ancestors in their worship of idols.

“He said: ‘You and your fathers are certainly in manifest error.’” (21:54) It is said in another Verse: “When he said to his father and to his people: ‘What is that you worship? Do you seek falsehood, gods other than Allah that you desire? What do you think about the Lord of the worlds? (37:85-87)

Qatadah said: It means what do you think that Allah will do with you when you meet Him ultimately after you have worshiped idols?

DO THE IDOLS HEAR YOU?

“Do they hear you when you call, or do they benefit you or harm you?’ They said: ‘No, but we found our fathers doing the same.”
(26:72-74).

The people of Abraham accepted the fact that their idols do not hear anyone who calls them, neither do they benefit or harm anybody. The only reason that they worshiped these idols was that they found their forefathers worshiping them, or those who were deviants from the right path like them.

PROPHET: ABRAHAM - IBRAHIM (عليه السلام)

PART: 7 (Chapter – 6)

THE FALSEHOOD OF IDOL WORSHIP.

And so, Abraham said to them: “Do you consider then, what you are worshiping, you and your forefathers, they are an enemy to me, except the Lord of the worlds.” (26:75-77)

This is a decisive evidence against the falsehood of those worshiped idols, because had they been true gods, they could have harmed Abraham when he disowned them.

“They said: ‘Have you come to us with the Truth, or you are only a jester?” (21:55) They asked him about what he was calling them to, or refuting the practice of their worship or discrediting their fathers for, whether it was all serious or was he just doing it with them as jest?

“He said: ‘But your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who originated them, and I am one of those who bear witness to that.’” (21:56) He answered them that he was serious in his call and that their God is only One God, the Lord of everything and the Creator of every being Who created this universe with no precedent. And so they should worship Him without associating any partner with Him.

I SHALL OUTWIT YOUR IDOLS!

“And by Allah, I shall surely outwit our idols after you have gone away.” (21:57).
Abraham swore that he would make some plot against their idols when they all have gone for their festival. Whether he said this openly to them or just determined in his mind to do this, both are suggested by exegetes. Ibn Masood said that he told some of them openly.

REMINDER

Spending your Time doing Da’wah and Gaining ‘Ilm is Awesome, but it’s Important to always Make time for Other ‘Ibadat that are Heart-Softening and will Increase your Closeness and Longing Toward's ALLĀH ﷻ. The Heart can easily Become hard with So much Studying, Reading, Writing, and Posting.

Don’t let that Happen.

Maintain a Balance Between doing Da’wah/Studying and Recitation of the Qur’an/Nawafil/Tahajjud/Du’a.

There Needs to be a Balance Between matters related to the Duniyā, Personal ‘Ibadat for the Soul, and Working to Promote the Deen of ALLĀH ﷻ.

Be Careful with Thieves of the Month of Ramadan!
Reminder for Myself and Those who Wish to Benefit As Ramadan is Almost here.

1. Television
this thief is Dangerous and Ruins Days of People and Diminishes their Reward's, by Watching Movies where the Day's are the Best of All day's and Night's are the Best of All Night's.

2. Too much Sleep
Just because it is Said in Hadith that Even sleep in this Month has Thawab doesn't Mean that you Should Excessively Sleep. The Point is that if Even sleep Contains Reward's then Imagine the Reward's of Ibadat.

3. Wasting Night
A Thief that Steals most Valuable time from you. This thief is Responsible for turning you away from Salatul layl, Istighfār and Tawbah and Reading of Specific Duas of Ramadan and Recitation of the Qur'an.

4. Stinginess
Give Sadqa, Iftar and help Other's. Give Iftar Even if it is half a Date or a Sip of Water, so ALLĀH ﷻ will Forgive your Past Sins.

5. Bad Akhlaq Manners
Fasting is not just Restraining from Food and Drinks but Eye's, Ears, Tongue and all Parts of the Body Should also be Fasting. Stay away from Lying, Backbiting, Cursing, Suspicion.

And the Biggest thief ... 6. Social Media i.e Facebook, Intsagram,Telegram,Whatsapp etc...

If You do not Use Them in the Right way, all Your good Deeds Could be Taken from You.

So Don't let this Holy Month go so that When Everyone is Receiving their Reward's, you are also Not the one who is Empty Handed!

O he who committing sins did not suffice him in Rajab
Until he disobeyed his Lord in Sha’bān,
The month of fasting has arrived to you after them
So do not turn it into a month of disobedience as well
Recite the Qur’ān and glorify the praises of your Lord
For verily it is the month of the Qur’ān and glorification
How many have you known who fasted with you in the past?
From among your family members, neighbors, and brothers
Death has perished them and spared you after them
How close is the farness from the approaching one?

Ramadān Tips:

1. Limit your use of social media and spending excessive time on it socialising. Every second of Ramadān is precious, so don’t waste your time online if it won’t bring any benefit. However, online platforms should be used for spreading reminders and benefits and one shouldn’t stay away from it completely if they are using it to benefit the Ummah.

2. Eat healthy. Don’t overeat and stay away from unhealthy foods as it will effect your quality of ‘Ibādah. Drink plenty of water when you can.

3. Don’t waste time after you break your fast like many do and excessively socialise. It’s best to stay away from such gatherings in the first place so you don’t fall into doing and speaking about harām things.

4. Always make extra effort and do more as Allāhﷻ has made ‘Ibādah so easy for us in this blessed month, Alhamdulilāh.

5. Utilise the early hours of the morning well after Fajr, as they have so much barakah in them. Use this time to recite a lot of Qur’ān, memorise and reflect over it and remember Allāhﷻ.

6. Recite as much Qur’ān as possible! If you struggle with this, base your recitation around the prayer times and try to at least read a page before and after each Salāh and increase as you go. Although there’s nothing wrong with completing the Qur’ān as that’s what the righteous of the past used to do in this blessed month, don’t forget to also read the tafsīr and reflect over the meanings. This will have a greater effect on one’s Īmān, Taqwā and Salāh, inside and outside of Ramadān.

7. Get a decent amount of rest so you can wake up frequently if able in the last third of the night to do extra ‘Ibādah. There are special times where du’ā is more likely to be answered, now imagine the likelihood of it being answered in the last third of the night, during Ramadān, in Sujūd, and even more so if that night was Laylatul Qadr!

8. Seek Laylatul Qadr every night in the last ten nights, especially the odd nights, and refrain from singling one night out and ignoring the rest. Allāh will only allow the true, sincere ones who make effort with ‘Ibādah to witness this amazing, blessed night.

9. Help your brothers and sisters whenever you can with their needs and hasten to do good deeds even faster in this month.

10. Be humble in front of Allāhﷻ and turn to Him in repentance every day and night of Ramadān. Only Allāhﷻ knows how many sins we have accumulated over the year so we need to beg Allāh for His forgiveness during these blessed days and nights, and think well of Allāhﷻ always.

These are a Few tips, but there is so much more that can be done to maximise our ‘Ibādah in this month. Also don’t forget to make plenty of du’ā for the entire ummah; those living and those in their graves.

May Allāhﷻ accept our worship and help us truly give this blessed month its rights.

اللهم آمين

Friday_Reminder

• O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of ALLĀH ﷻ and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9]

▪️ Reading Surah al-Kahf 📖

It was Narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khduri that the Prophet (ﷺ) Said:
“Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on Friday, he will be illuminated with light between the two Fridays.”

[Narrated by al-Haakim; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 836]

▪️ Ghusl🚿

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (ﷺ) Said:
“Whoever does ghusl then comes to Jumu’ah, and prays as much as ALLĀH ﷻ decrees for him, then listens attentively until the khutbah is over, then prays with him (the imam), will be forgiven for (his sins) between that and the next Jumu’ah and three more days.”

[Narrated by Muslim, 857]

▪️ Sending a lot of blessings upon the Prophet (ﷺ)

It was narrated from Aws ibn Aws that the Prophet (ﷺ) Said:
“The best of your days is Friday. On that day Adam (peace be upon him) was created; on that day he died; on that day the Trumpet will be blown; and on that day all of creation will swoon. So send a great deal of blessings upon me, for your blessings will be shown to me.” They said, “O Messenger of ALLĀH ﷻ, how will our blessings upon you be shown to you when you have turned to dust?” He said, “ALLĀH ﷻ has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets, peace be upon them.”

[Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1047; classed as saheeh by Ibn al-Qayyim in his comments on Sunan Abi Dawood, 4/273;]

▪️ Sa'at al-Istijabah: A time when Dua is Answered

Jabir relates that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
Friday is comprised of twelve hours. There is one in which a Muslim who asks Allah for something will have it granted to him. Seek it in the last hour after Asr.
