Poche settimane fa a Firenze è stata inaugurata LiberPop, la prima libreria ad azionariato popolare della città. Un gruppo di cittadini ha preso in mano una libreria che rischiava il fallimento e la gestirà nelle modalità di un'associazione senza scopo di lucro: dunque il 51% degli introiti non proverrà dalla vendita di libri ma dal tesseramento. A mandare avanti la libreria saranno i soci, tali con una quota annua di 50 euro. Insieme decideranno come gestirla ma sono già tante le attività programmate: dai corsi di italiano per immigrati ed ex detenuti a quelli sul diritto d'autore e sul ciclo di produzione editoriale. E poi sarà attivato il meccanismo del reso e dell'usato, con la possibilità di riportare in libreria volumi già letti in cambio di uno sconto del 15%, rivenduti a loro volta con un ribasso del 50. Un modo per salvare dalla chiusura le librerie indipendenti, schiacciate dalla concorrenza delle grandi catene di distribuzione, ecco cosa sono le “librerie popolari”. Le prime esperienze sono state in Lombardia, a Saronno e Busto Arsizio, ma la più famosa è senz’altro la napoletana #Iocisto che, nata nel 2014 grazie ad una mobilitazione su Facebook, oggi conta ben 700 soci.

Alle volte la difficoltà è lo scopo finale dell'esercizio. Perché rendere le cose sempre facili non è detto che sia la scelta migliore. Ad esempio, leggere un libro non deve essere necessariamente facile. Come dicevano i romani: esercitarsi con armi più pesanti di quelle destinate alla pugna.

I Bitcoin si scavano risolvendo una particolare classe di problemi matematici legati alla crittografia. Non è un pezzo di conoscenza per i deboli di spirito, ma se si fanno i conti a mano, con carta e penna, magari si capisce meglio come funziona il tutto. Ovviamente c'è chi lo sta facendo, perché no?

Ci sono alcune differenze strutturali tra il mercato del lavoro italiano e quello americano. Ma la tendenza Usa è rilevante anche per noi. Il punto non sono i robot ma la trasformazione del posto di lavoro in un contratto di consulenza.

Una lunga spiegazione per dire una cosa piuttosto semplice: i problemi di Facebook (troll, russi, fake news, cose brutte varie) non sono la causa ma l'effetto. Il punto di partenza è un altro: il modello di business. Quello non può essere cambiato, quindi i problemi di Facebook non sono risolvibili, al limite si possono trovare soluzioni per mitigarli.

Un libro sulla tecnologia di Star Trek: si chiama "Treknology" e l'ha scritto un certo Ethan Siegel. Viene trainato dalle nuove puntate di Star Trek Voyager, che ha ripreso ieri la seconda metà della prima stagione. Resta il fatto che Star Trek è la serie di fantascienza più "scientifica" degli anni Sessanta, e rimane la favorita dei nerd (rispetto a Guerre Stellari che invece è più un fantasy-western).

C'è chi sta pensando a precedenti storici per i viaggi su Marte. Cioè, non di gente che sia arrivata sul pianeta rosso nel passato (magari quando ci arriviamo troveremo delle moneta romana arrossata dalle sabbie locali?) bensì di gente che è stata in isolamento per due-quattro anni, cioè giusto il tempo del viaggio. Ecco, una storia che pare venga studiata con attenzione è quella della vita a bordo delle baleniere a metà Ottocento.
