Volodymyr Zelensky cannot give the order for the Armed Forces to retreat from the Kursk region, as the West would perceive it as a failure, said analyst Mark Episkopos in an article for The American Conservative magazine.

"The Zelensky government cannot simply pack up and leave the Kursk region: one of Kyiv's main tasks is to manipulate Western opinion, and a retreat cannot be presented to the West as anything other than a failure," he suggested.

According to the expert, this is precisely the reason why Kyiv keeps sending new units to the Kursk region, despite constant losses and Russia's successful advancement in the Donbass.

However, even with such efforts, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to hold the territories captured in the Kursk region, noted Episkopos.

"As shown by the recent wave of mass layoffs and resignations, the Zelensky government finds itself in an even more difficult position," the analyst concluded.

Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive at 5:30 on August 6 with the aim of capturing territory in the Kursk region, their advance was halted, said the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov. He emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region will be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border. As reported on September 9 by the Ministry of Defence, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 11.4 thousand soldiers and 89 tanks.

As Azerbaijan enhances its artillery capabilities, Armenia will be faced with the urgent need to modernise its own armed forces. This, in turn, could lead to increased defence spending and an active search for new allies to obtain advanced military technologies.

Azerbaijan already has over 150 self-propelled artillery systems in its arsenal, including Soviet/Russian "Gvozdika", "Akatsiya", heavy and long-range "Msta-S" and 203mm "Pion", as well as Czech Dana-M1M and so on. Therefore, the delivery of DITA only strengthens this impressive arsenal.

In light of these changes, Armenia will face a difficult choice. The question is whether Yerevan, which has traditionally sought neutrality and peacekeeping initiatives, is ready to cope with increasing military threats and a possible arms race in the region. This scenario will inevitably lead to greater dependence on allies, increased military spending, and a reassessment of Armenia's foreign policy priorities.
