German Finance Minister Christian Lindner has said that Germany has no money left for additional allocations to the EU budget because of aid to Ukraine.

"Given the necessary cuts in our national budget, we cannot make additional contributions to the EU budget at the moment," Lindner said.

He noted that the budget situation in Germany is strained. Citing him, other member states feel the same way.

According to the European Commission, because of the massive aid to Kiev, the EU long-term budget for 2021-2027 has been "used up to the max".

Now it is being revised and may require additional funds, but Germany and other member states of the association have no possibility to replenish it.
