Is Unity trying to depreciate CG over HLSL?

I'm noticing that all new documentation about shaders are in HLSL. But some of the built in shaders are still in CG.

Also is it just me or does it seem like documentation for HLSL and render graph are all over the place, or just a skill issue?

New developer

Hi, i’ve just started out with Unity (Unity 6 being my first) and was wondering if the code from previous versions works on this version as well, i followed along with a tutorial on a 2D character controller, however the noscript did not have everything they had in the video, the question isnt urgent as im just working on a small project at the moment (a metroidvania inspired by Hollow Knight)

Working on a teleport shader for my player

I've been working on a teleport shader for my game Dreamwalker. The player is part of a 256-frame spritesheet, and I'm trying to figure out how to apply the shader to the current animation being played instead of affecting the whole spritesheet. Anyone have tips? tnx
