🇮🇷Iranian lawmakers are reviewing a new law that would institute jail time of up to 10 years for women who refuse to wear a hijab. Violation of the law will also carry a much larger fine of 360 million Iranian rials (around $8515), a 720-fold increase from the current range of 50,000 to 500,000 Iranian rials ($1.18 to $11.82).
The government invoked Article 85 of Iran’s constitution which allows them to pass the law behind closed doors without public debate.
This comes as a response to last year’s nation-wide anti-hijab protests after a woman died while in custody of the 'morality police' for improperly wearing the headscarf.
Do you think Iran has the right to pass this law?

❗️DISTURBING IMAGES. Shocking footage shows a hammer attack on a female officer
In Connecticut, a cop responded to a call about noise and breaking glass. When she arrived, a 52-year-old man was wielding a hammer. In a terrifying clash captured on camera, the woman fought for her life, firing shots to protect herself from the assault. Watch the moment of the attack in the video.
The officer sustained minor injuries, while the man was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, second-degree assault, assault on public safety personnel, and interfering with police.
The attacker, an Iraq War veteran, was discharged from the Army and has a diagnosed condition linked to his military service. It's a common problem in the US. Many veterans returned home mentally-scarred, but they received no government help. Hear their tragic stories in our film, ‘US Veterans: Not Forgotten’ (2016).

☢️The first water from the ‘Fukushima-1’ nuclear power plant has been released into the Pacific Ocean. It was used to cool the damaged reactors for 12 years, then collected in about 1000 giant tanks and freed of radiation. Japanese scientists have conducted analyses and claim the levels of hazardous substances are below the permissible limits.
However, it’s impossible to make the liquid completely harmless. It still contains the radioactive isotope tritium. ‘The Japanese themselves admit they couldn't fully purify the water because it contains tritium, and it can’t be removed from water,’ says Philip Sapozhnikov, a leading research scientist at the Peter Shirshov Institute of Oceanology.
Currently, the storage tanks are approximately 90% full. If they’re not emptied, it will be impossible to decommission the plant completely. The water will be continuously released over a period of 17 days in the initial stage, and the whole process is estimated to take around 30 years.
Learn about the devastating catastrophe at the nuclear power plant in the film, ‘Back to Fukushima’ (2019).
