☢️The first water from the ‘Fukushima-1’ nuclear power plant has been released into the Pacific Ocean. It was used to cool the damaged reactors for 12 years, then collected in about 1000 giant tanks and freed of radiation. Japanese scientists have conducted analyses and claim the levels of hazardous substances are below the permissible limits.
However, it’s impossible to make the liquid completely harmless. It still contains the radioactive isotope tritium. ‘The Japanese themselves admit they couldn't fully purify the water because it contains tritium, and it can’t be removed from water,’ says Philip Sapozhnikov, a leading research scientist at the Peter Shirshov Institute of Oceanology.
Currently, the storage tanks are approximately 90% full. If they’re not emptied, it will be impossible to decommission the plant completely. The water will be continuously released over a period of 17 days in the initial stage, and the whole process is estimated to take around 30 years.
Learn about the devastating catastrophe at the nuclear power plant in the film, ‘Back to Fukushima’ (2019).

❗️🇷🇺 🌾Russia continues to dominate grain market - Figaro
📝 "With exceptionally high wheat harvests for the second year in a row (after last year's record), the prospects for Russia are quite bright.
Russia will continue to dominate the grain market in 2023 - 2024, despite the uncertainty about the risks to shipping in the Black Sea," the newspaper writes.
✅ According to the report of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, world wheat supplies will decrease by 3 million tons, and stocks will slightly decrease. This will strengthen Russia's position as the world's leading exporter.
Russian exports, the author noted, account for 23% of world trade.
