Indian scientists create “rat cyborgs” for security forces' intelligence surveillance

India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is creating “rat cyborgs” which would help in security forces' recovery operations and intelligence surveillance, Deccan Herald reports

The cyborgs would have cameras placed on the head and electronic commands would be used to guide them using semi-invasive brain electrodes. “An example of rats’ use could be a situation like the 26/11 terror attack in which more than 200 rooms of a hotel had to be searched,” says DRDO’s Young Scientist Laboratory director, P Shiva Prasad

The military involvement of rats hasn’t yet been discussed, but given the mass deployment of UAVs in Ukrainian war, such cyborgs could become the next stage of warfare

Downing Street said the record ambulance response times were “obviously unacceptable”, but refused to say that the NHS was in crisis

Dr Adrian Boyle, president of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, said patients were dying because the NHS was no longer able to perform its “central function” of providing emergency care. Daisy Cooper, the Lib Dem deputy leader, said: “Thousands of excess deaths, millions on waiting lists and hours until an ambulance arrives: this is a horror show of the govt’s creation.”

Private hospitals help relieve pressure on waiting lists and can, in times of crisis, be mobilized to provide extra capacity.
