Multiple emergency crews and fire departments are on scene at Emery Oleochemicals chemical plant after a explosion and a small fire broke out with dozens of people reporting a loud bang. Officials say the explosion was isolated, and there is no hazard to the public or surrounding businesses

So now it’s more of a British than European Trade war with the U.S.

British PM Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman, the home secretary, have introduced a legislation to make asylum claims from Channel migrants who arrive on small boats inadmissible. They’re likely to be removed from Britain “as soon as reasonably practicable” and prohibited from returning or claiming citizenship

Sunak’s likely to face pressure from some Tory MPs to go further and threaten to pull Britain out of the European Convention on Human Rights. The charities claim the government plan to be “unworkable” as well

On the other hand, it depends on what’s considered a “working” law and for whom. The seekers are clearly not an electoral base of Sunak&fellows, and under a pretext of protecting national borders and ensuring security, such a legislation could meet widespread approval among conservative-minded U.K. citizens
