The Du’aa of Abu Bakr Siddeeq رضي الله عنه when he was praised to his face:
" اللهم لا تؤاخذني بما يقولون ، واجعلني خيرا مما يظنون ، واغفر لي ما لا يعلمون "
“O Allāh, do not take me to account for what they say, and make me better than what they think, and forgive me for what they don’t know.”
You can fool people easily, but if people don’t know your reality, rest assured, Allāh knows it. We can’t fool our creator with our seemingly pious outer appearances and eloquent speech. Never let people’s positive opinions of you get to your head. If this was the Du’aa of the best man to walk the face of the Earth after the Prophets, then what should our attitude be when praised or thought well of?

Q. Is it permissible to make duaa for the health of a non-Muslim relative?
A. There is no duah for the unbelievers. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in an authentic hadith made duah for a tribe called Daws (قبيلة دوس) and also in an authentic hadith he made duah for a tribe called Thakeef (قبيلة ثقيف) - for Allah to guide them. Allah answered his duah and He guided them to Islam. This shows us the permissibility of only making duah for the unbelievers for their guidance. That's the only exception. There is a unanimous consensus on this matter of making duah for the unbelievers to be guided.
The Jewish people used to come to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم purposely sneezing, hoping that the Prophet would say to them, "May Allah have mercy on you", just as is said to the believers. But on the contrary, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to say to them, "May Allah guide you!"
That is proof that (other than for guidance) you cannot make duah for the unbelievers.
It's mentioned in Soorat At-Tawbah verse 113: It is not permissible for the Prophet(s) and those who believe to ask for Allah's forgiveness for the unbelievers (those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allah), even if they're your relatives.
