BOIL your wooden spoons and utensils at the beginning of every month. Even if you are hand cleaning them or putting them in the dishwasher, they need a deep soak.

To note I hand clean mine usually as dishwasher is typically not recommended. I did this for demonstration purposes.

Just soaking your wooden spoons in boiling water for around 20 minutes to help release oils and liquids that have been absorbed into the wood. Then air dry. Reapply mineral oil food grade to rehydrate the wood so it lasts years and years.

For a deep clean, sanitize your wooden spoons with hydrogen peroxide, allow the wooden spoons to soak for fifteen minutes. Then rinse away the hydrogen peroxide with water and air-dry the spoons before using them again. It’ll kill all the bacteria build up.
