translation of the introduction to the song 👇
During the Constitutional Revolution [of Iran], Malek o-Sho'arā Bahār wrote several songs using the musical modal system of classical Persian music known as Dastgah. Many of those contained lyrical motifs relating to freedom, among which Morq-e Sahar (Dawn Bird), sung by Qamar-ol-Moluk Vaziri in Māhur Dastgāh, became an emblem of Persian national and political identity, and can be found in each stage of Iranian history in some form or another

O nightingale, make a moaning sound
And further deepen my sorrow
Break and overturn the cage out of a heartfelt sigh
O cage-bound nightingale get out of the cage, sing the song of human liberty
And set fire to the whole world out of your sigh
The brutality of the oppressor, the cruelty of the hunter has destroyed my nest
O God, O Heaven, O Nature turn our dark night into a bright dawn
It is early in spring, the flowers are in bloom but my eyes are brimmed with tears
And this cage is as dark as my heart
O heartfelt sigh, start fire in the cage
O nature´ hand do not pick the flower of my life (don´t take my life)
O beautiful flower, pay more attention to me
O nightingale in love, make brief the separation story of yours
