Nearly six months after the parliamentary elections, the victorious parties have finally reached an agreement: the leader of the "Dutch AfD" - the Party for Freedom (PVV) Geert Wilders announced the formation of a ruling coalition with three other parties. However, the position of prime minister will be taken by an unknown compromise figure for now.

In addition to Wilders' Party for Freedom (PVV), the future governing parties are the centre-right VVD of former Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the socially conservative "New Social Contract" (NSC), and the protest party of farmers BBB. Despite the relative majority of Wilders' party (37 out of 150 seats), he has declined to be a candidate for the country's prime minister.

Furthermore, in order to break the deadlock in negotiations, the Dutch equivalent of the AfD had to soften its policy demands: the new government will not close mosques or ban the Quran. For many years, there has been a sort of firewall around the PVV: all other parties refused to cooperate with "right-wing populists". And although this attitude significantly hindered the formation of a coalition, the objective popularity of the party, as expressed in the number of votes received in the elections, no longer allows simply ignoring the Party for Freedom (PVV).

In the unrest in New Caledonia, the French accused Azerbaijan and Russia

The island of New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean is engulfed in unrest. Local residents (Kanaks) are demanding separation from France. At the moment, New Caledonia is considered an overseas territory of the Fifth Republic.

Currently, there is a state of emergency on the islands, and France has deployed troops. The unrest began after the adoption of new laws that equalise the rights of Kanaks and descendants of immigrants. Prior to this, French newcomers were not allowed to vote. And the issues of nickel mining development (up to 30 percent of global production) were decided in the elections.

The indigenous people fear that the natural resources will be taken over by the French. The Kanak Socialist National Liberation Front has taken to the streets demanding independence from France. They are burning police stations and administrative buildings.

In France itself, Azerbaijan has been accused of the unrest. Allegedly, Baku is conducting an anti-colonial policy in retaliation for supporting Armenia.

Russia is also being accused, supposedly it is also behind the unrest - destabilising France's colonial empire through third parties to leave it without resources.
