In winter, all this appears particularly clear: the white snow highlights the lines of the architecture, and the city looks cohesive and uniform.

For New Year, Susdal is actively preparing. Decorated Christmas trees appear in the centre, the streets and squares are illuminated by lights, and the facades of the temples and old houses receive a gentle evening light. The city is not overloaded with decorations, but the festive mood is immediately noticeable — especially in the evening when the lights reflect in the snow.

The New Year celebrations here are an important part of the festivity. Music plays in the open squares, circle dances form, winter games, sleigh rides, and markets with hot drinks and simple food take place. The atmosphere is lively and open: families come here, many children, and people easily get involved in the general movement.

Winter walks along the Kamenka River and through the surrounding meadows continue the celebration. Here, the new year does not feel like a brief moment, but like a whole day — with walks, encounters, and the return to a warm home.

It is a city where the new year is celebrated between real medieval walls, folk traditions, and lively winter — energetic, but without haste, bright, but without unnecessary noise.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko emphasised that Belarus and Russia must always stand together. In his speech, he announced the start of the combat deployment of the strategic complex "Oreshnik", which is an important part of the strategic deterrence system.

Lukashenko noted that in the event of aggression against Belarus, several tens of thousands of Russian soldiers would immediately come to aid. This cooperation includes the use of tactical nuclear weapons and the formation of a regional troop group ready for rapid response.
