I'm working on a shader which supports pixelated shadows. I thought of shading each texel while sampling the Base Texture but I didn't find a way to do it. Any advice is appreciated!

After nearly a month of intense learning new tools in Unity, my Soviet Strike-inspired game is shaping up with fresh assets and enhanced visuals! Still, there’s much to learn, add, and refine before a playable demo is ready, but I’m excited about the progress.

I Need Help

So I’m not sure how to ask for what I’m looking for, but basically I know how to program and have used unity off and on over the years. I am trying to make a simple top down survival game right now. I have been messing with different program “structures” but keep having an issue where my code and game objects turn into spaghetti. I think my problem is I don’t have a deep enough understanding of everything that can be done in unity or what best practices are. However, I find it extremely tedious to watch tutorials because I know a lot of the basics and can’t stand going through a whole test project just to learn one new concept.

I guess what I’m looking for is some kind of tutorial series that isn’t just waking through how to code a game line by line. I really want something that can rapid fire through the ends and out of all the tools unity has to offer and some ways to stay organized. Does anyone know what might be able to help me here? Maybe my attention span is too short or I am just impatient lol. I just don’t have a lot of free time to do this and don’t want to waste the time I do spend filtering through so much stuff I already have an understanding of. I can easily find the syntax I need when I’m trying to do something I know I “can” do. I just want to find out more of the things I don’t know I can do, if that makes sense, and also how to organize projects better. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Thank you in advance if you’re able to help.

This shader has worked fine all day, then suddenly decided to run pink. What could cause this?

Games for training

Hey all, I just got into unity. Anybody here who has tried creating a game for training purposes? Not too complex, but easy games, but for training people. It might help me draw my learning path. Thanks.

How many of you are aware of Dev Drive?

I know it is not a new feature but I also see many people not being aware of it.

Are you using it?
https://blogs.windows.com/windowsdeveloper/2023/06/01/dev-drive-performance-security-and-control-for-developers/

Dev Drive is a great feature and is so easy to setup.
It works great with Microsoft Defender.

The gist of this feature is to stop real time scanning of files, thus making their read/write process a lot faster and speeding up access to cache and other project files.

Redirect all your cache files in this drive, and ideally your current project too.

Makes a difference while building or creating lightmaps or processing hundreds and thousands of assets, and more importantly helps immensely with situations where your antivirus or malware protection or file protection sees everything hostile and prevents you from working.

Small team from Germany here! This started as a student's project and after our graduation we decided to go all in. You switch between various robots and control water levels to solve puzzles and explore the ancient ruins of Atlantis. Its our first game so any wishlist helps!

Movement and Gravity

So I'm new to Unity and programming and I'm having trouble making a boss. So it's a standard boss charges you and hits a wall causing things to fall. I got the boss to move(one way they won't turn around) and Idk how to get the rocks to Spawn and fall. Any help would be appreciated

Why is my sprite getting warped in the simulator view?

Hi! Very new to game dev so I'm sure I did something wrong here. The shape of these blue circles is getting messed up when I change the view from game to simulator (and honestly seems off in game view too). Do I have something weird checked or is this an issue with how they're scaled? I haven't even touched the camera view stuff but could it be something there.

Grateful for any help!
